Dyerbassman Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Anyone in Northwest Indiana having any luck lately? Was out yesterday and couldn't buy a bite. Threw everything at 'em and ....nothing! If you've been out there, what's working? I want to get out again tomorrow while it's still somewhat warm. It's been a while since I've been skunked twice in a row! Thanks! Quote
MDH713 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I've been out the past few weeks here in central Indiana at Geist and I haven't done to bad. A few that went 3lbs and a couple that went 2lbs. All of them caught on jigs. Hopefully I can get out one more time before I call it quits for the year and winterize the boat. Quote
Dave P Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 A little farther south than Indy, water temps in the mid to lower 50s. The shad have been very shallow. VERY shallow. It's hard to get a consistent bite there hasn't been any consistent schooling action, but we have been scratching out limits by using plastic swim baits and traps running them on flats with the shad schools and around rip rap. Also pitching creature baits around the rock. Quote
Preytorien Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I was up on Webster this past week for musky, but I brought my froggin' rod since it's got a lot of lilly pad spots on it. Not even a single bite. Some guys with a much nicer boat (and electronics) than ours said the shallows we're an even 50-degrees and the main lake was at 44-degrees. My guess is our fast-forward fall has started to turn the fish to the winter bite. I haven't hit Geist since Sept, but like MDH has experienced, the bite seems to be slowing, or so I've heard from him and several others. Quote
Amoore9900 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 On our private lake in Central Indiana (north of Indy) we had been getting fish at the mouth of a channel and at the back of a deeper channel.(the fish I posted) The bite was strong on KVD and the bigger fish came on a deeper crankbait so they seemed to have been moving deeper I went out Monday and the fish were not where they had been so either wasn't biting (we have been skunked 3 times in 2 years here) or they have moved out do deeper parts of the lake. I'm going to try again in a few hours and if I don't find fish this time I would say they have moved out last year they were here until the middle of Nov though. Quote
