CTGalloway21 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 didn't they already have Ike combos for kids? Quote
Grantman83 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Let's hope they sell better than his daiwa rods lol 2 Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 I bet they will probably be technique specific, at least thats what im hoping for. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted October 29, 2013 Super User Posted October 29, 2013 Think they will be less prone to break when smacked against the gunwales 7 Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted October 29, 2013 Super User Posted October 29, 2013 They will let out an "Ike Scream" upon lifting in a fish. Finding the off switch is another story. Lol 2 Quote

Grantman83 Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Well the mgx is only 5.4 oz so maybe he won't have to! Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted October 29, 2013 Super User Posted October 29, 2013 will he have a signature reel too that floats when he throws it into the water? Dude, I havent laughed that hard all week lol 1 Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted October 29, 2013 Super User Posted October 29, 2013 It's a shame they are EVA but I am excited to get my hands on one if they are as nice or nicer than the Veritas. I hope they have decent reel seats. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted October 30, 2013 Super User Posted October 30, 2013 Get excited to have to pay the premium for having a name on a rod. If its anything like Abu's other rods, performance will be decent, but components will be extra BLEHK for me, especially the looks. Yuk purple and gold it looks like 1 Quote

Super User Montanaro Posted November 8, 2013 Super User Posted November 8, 2013 i agree with clay....we may be paying for the paint job...ill look into them regardless. Quote

Super User BASSclary Posted November 11, 2013 Super User Posted November 11, 2013 Not a fan of the veritas? I have one and love it. It was a decent performing rod, especially for the price point. I did like how they put SiC guides on, but I HATE those types of "open full blank" reel seats with a passion, along with EVA foam, just dont like the components. I feel like Abu is trying to hard in the looks department, along with many other brands, trying to be "JDM" Ill stick with my reserved styling Powells, that perform twice as well for only 40 more bones. I agree, Powell is where it's at. I do own a couple Veritas rods though and have to say they are pretty good rods at roughly $100 price point. Quote

fisherrw Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 didn't they already have Ike combos for kids? hopfully they will be better than that! Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted January 20, 2015 Super User Posted January 20, 2015 I don't think they look bad, the green/purple flip finish looks better than that godawful white. I just don't care for the actions of Abu rods, so I will probably pass. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 20, 2015 Super User Posted January 20, 2015 Anyone know the price point yet? Quote
Sonik Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Anyone know the price point yet? Ike says $120. Quote
Blues19 Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Yep he said $120 and he also said they should be out everywhere in mid Feb, around the time of the Bassmaster Classic Quote
Super User tomustang Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 Is that mid Feb 2016? Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted January 21, 2015 Super User Posted January 21, 2015 Powell's and St Croixs. All I need.Ditto. They have St Croixs at the $100 price point that are better than the Abu's IMO. I came into a free Veritas and didn't like it so I sold it for $50.. Im sure whoever got it enjoyed the deal.. Whatever, $50 in my pocket. 1 Quote
