doyle8218 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I am looking to buy a new rod just for shore fishing - I want a 6'10" med-hvy but not sure of the action - any suggestions as I will only use the one rod from shore thanxs folks Quote
DirtyDeuceGoose Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 A fast action will probably be the most logical route for you to go. A MH/F rod is pretty universal for a lot of techniques Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted October 28, 2013 Super User Posted October 28, 2013 Imho, Carbonlite rods are great affordable rods that will surprise you. They sure is heck surprised me. 2 Quote
John G Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Just out of curiosity, why 6'10" and not 7'? The only 6'10" rod that I have had experience with was a G Loomis BCR803 Jig N Worm rod.. It was a very nice rod and it was a Med Heavy with an Extra Fast tip. I didn't care for the Extra Fast tip. A lot of people like that tip but I didn't. 2" more in rod length gets you a Loomis MBR843. That is a MedHvy with a Fast tip. I don't own it but I do have 3 others in the G Loomis Mag Bass line of rods and I like them all. The 843 gets really good reviews on this Site and while new ones are pricey, used ones in very nice condition can be had for under $200.00 Quote
doyle8218 Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013 I find at my height being level with the water and all the trees that 7ft is a little long for me, on a boat its different Quote

Super User AK-Jax86 Posted October 28, 2013 Super User Posted October 28, 2013 I find at my height being level with the water and all the trees that 7ft is a little long for me, on a boat its different I use to use a 6'10" rod, spinning though, and made the jump to 7'... Trust me that extra 2" doesn't make a difference negatively when bank fishing. It will only help you bring in those big girls! Quote
Arv Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Depends on what you will be fishing. As mentioned, a fast tip will be more versatile. But if you're only fishing cranks, maybe a moderate action would be better. IMO, a 6'10 MH/F rod will be a very versatile rod. Quote
