Live.2.Fish Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Just wondering what you guys use to sharpen your hooks. I have heard that the rapala hook sharpener sucks. Any suggestions for me? Quote
Deuceu72 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I may be out of the norm here but I never sharpen my hooks........If they get dull, I change em.......Simple as that. ;D Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 28, 2007 Super User Posted March 28, 2007 I don't sharpen hooks either. When they need attention, they need to be replaced. Quote
BD Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I buy owner rig-n hooks in 5/0. They are STUPID sharp!! Quote
gatrboy53 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 the chemically sharpened hooks of today shouldnt need to be sharpened. if a hook gets dull replace it. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I have a Berkley hook sharpener, it stinks. I have heard a lot of folks talking about their dull Chatterbait hooks and wonder what they do about it. My chatterbaits have some pretty dull hooks, and I want to hone them. Quote
56 crestliner Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 I bought a Berkeley electric sharpener and that thing is a piece of crap. I'm going to go buy just a stone. Some baits you can't replace the hook like a Johnson Silver minnow ;D Quote
Garnet Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Sharping hooks is a losed art and for good reason most hooks are sharp. I still touch up some baits. Those yellow handle files in BPS are the best all the battery jobs suck. Garnet Quote
Bud Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I don't sharpen hooks. They are to cheap to waste time sharping them. Quote
BucketmouthAngler13 Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Dispite what some of you filthy rich people say, hooks are to expensive to replace when they get dull. (atleast for me) I got a hook hone for a few bucks, and it does wonders. In just a minute you can turn the dullest hook into a razor. Its great for baits like spinnerbaits where the hook can not be changed. Quote
HUNTER19 Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I def agree with every one else ;D if a hook gets dull dont waste the time to sharpen them!!!!! Quote
cbfishalot Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 I may be out of the norm here but I never sharpen my hooks........If they get dull, I change em.......Simple as that. ;D I AGREE!!!!!! Quote
magic Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 You can buy a hook stone or a diamond covered sharpener form BPS or Cabelas. I like the diamond covered sharpener better. Quote
Bud Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Dispite what some of you filthy rich people say, hooks are to expensive to replace when they get dull If you are worry about the price of hooks you are in the wrong hobbie Quote
Turtle. Rebbasser Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Get yourself one of these: They will run you 5-6 bucks and will fit in your pocket like a pen. Run the point down the groove a few times and it is needle sharp. Quote
