travis23 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 What is the best way to test water temps from the bank? Quote
coryn h. fishowl Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I use my toes haha. In all seriousness, I look up lake temps for nearby popular lakes online to get a ballpark guesstimate as to my lake temperature Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 25, 2013 Super User Posted October 25, 2013 Pool thermometer.... Quote
Super User Marty Posted October 26, 2013 Super User Posted October 26, 2013 I carry a stream-type thermometer and attach it to the line and let it sit in the water for a while (30 seconds). Quote
KyakR Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I have this amazing thermometer I got at LL Bean's.........it not only measures temp at the surface but also at different depths ( measures depth also). You can tie it on your line and cast it. I use it a lot, especially when I'm trying to pinpoint turnover, spawn, etc. I'm guessing other places have them also Quote
