paulkuan Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Hello, So I have to stop my choice on fenwick aetos MH, I wonder about the action. I hesitate between the fast action, and extra fast as I would have wanted to have your opinion on the subject. I mainly fishing lure soft that it is often to scrape the bottom. So I wanted to know what you could tell me about the work of his rods. thnks Quote
Arv Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I like a fast or extra fast action when fishing bottom contact lures, especially soft plastics. The fast action will make for better hook sets. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted October 25, 2013 Super User Posted October 25, 2013 paulkuan - Arv's statement is right on. However, line also is a factor. If you use braid with a leader then XF isn't really going to have "better advantage" than a Fast Action. I don't own a Fenwick Aetos MH/XF, but I own a Shimano Crucial with the same rating. They both fish about the same and it was a favorite bottom contact rod until I bought other higher end rods. Quote
paulkuan Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Indeed it will be mostly used with braid and leader, so you're probably right I certainly do not win in sensitivity with an extra fast. Say that in my home, the pike are quite present and so it is difficult to do without a leader. Quote
