jtesch Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Has anyone tried VXB bearings and if so give me a review. they are pretty cheap on the Bay. Quote
Trey Harpel Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 They are OK bearings.. Louder than most bearings out there for spool bearings.. I get their handle bearings and they have been solid over the years.. Boca makes the best bearing for the money.. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Boca also stands behind their product, one big reason I'm a dealer. Quote
Capt.Bob Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 You won't beat the quality or customer service from Boca, they are the company all other bearing companies are judged by!! As DVC suggests it is what I install and recamend, as most in this industry. There may be other companies that offer a good product but none that offer better or more variety, and no one has better customer service. Quote
jtesch Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Thanks guys, been using orange seals for a couple of years and was just wondering about the VXB's for a couple of "project" reels Quote
cddan Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Do boca's make a big difference? What kind (orange ? size ?number of bearings) and if anyone knows about abec's 5,7 and I think 9?Very curious what would be best for ease of casting. Quote
jtesch Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 Orange seals are ABEC 7, I have found that in some reels they make a big difference and in others not so much. What they really help with is pitching. The bearings allow the spool to start much easier and faster which translates to easier, longer and more accurate pitches and it also means less effort so you don't tire out. I have a couple of Revo MGX's and with the orange seals it really is more like a wrist flick to pitch a lure. one more thing, they allow you to use lighter lures. I wouldn't recommend putting them in a cheaper real as the breaking systems may not be able to keep up with the faster spool and you will have to dial up the cast control thus defeating the purpose of the faster bearings. Just my opinion 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 It's all relative. The amount to be gained depends on the reel, its overall condition and design, the condition of the stock bearings and the caster's ability to harness the improved free-spool. The ABEC rating refers to the tolerances to which the bearing is manufactured. An ABEC5 ceramic hybrid is probably the most cost effective but the Orange Seal ABEC 7's are the best seller. I remove the seals and run the bearings dry for optimal performance. Quote

Boca orange seal 7s are by far the number 1 selling bearing they have.. Ive got some of their 100$ abec 9s and there is hardly a difference between those and the orange seal 7s... Quote
