tbone1993 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I have a rod that is broken right above the reel seat and just below the hook keeper. It is basically the same thing reels at BPS are mounted to. I have the top section of the rod as well. I am trying to figure out what I can use this thing for besides sitting around in the corner. Let me know if you have any ideas or use for it. Fenwick Aetos 7ft m 1 piece ( lol jk its now a two piece thanks to me ) Quote
Bruce424 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 U could find a pistol grip and and make a nice zebco rod. It be around 5 foot. Then give it to a kid. My dad use to make ice fishing rods out of broken or old non usable rods. 1 Quote
RandySBreth Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 I'd see if it is covered by their warranty. http://www.fenwickfishing.com/about_contact.php Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 The rod can be spliced and will perform as before if done correctly. It's too involved for a post but you can call or email for help. It involves an inner splice and over sleeve. 1 Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted October 25, 2013 Super User Posted October 25, 2013 I wish more breaks like that would come in the shop! Thats a relatively easy fix if you know how. All I seem to get is rods broke within the first 6 or 8" of the tip. While they can be fixed, its almost impossible to do so without affecting action and power. Quote
CTGalloway21 Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 make a spooling station out of it. Quote

Fenwick warranty no longer requires sending in the rod. The broken one just sits in my apartment collecting dust. Im not going to pay to fix it since I have a replacement already. Quote

Wont be doing it since it was replaced under warranty. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted December 15, 2013 Super User Posted December 15, 2013 Use the reel seat/handle with a old baitcaster and string up a lure retriever 2 Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted December 16, 2013 Super User Posted December 16, 2013 If they don't want the rod back, I remove all the guides and keep them. You never know when they will come in handy. Then I usually give the broken blank ito a local rod building buddy of mine who can do what ever the heck he wants with it. It's a nice trade off, in exchage for the busted blanks, he usually dosen't charge me to replace a guide or something like that. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 30, 2013 Super User Posted December 30, 2013 As DVT wrote, you may be able to put a piece of graphite from another rod into the broken section for the repair. I snapped an old crankbait rod and also broke the reel seat and my buddy used a section of graphite from another rod to install into the crankbait rod plus we screwed a baitcaster reel onto the reel seat. So how does this crazy setup work? Fine so far. Quote
Christian M Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 You can make a homemade blowgun out of it. There are Youtube vids that show how Quote
Solution tbone1993 Posted January 16, 2014 Author Solution Posted January 16, 2014 Going to turn it into a lure retriever handle when I get a chance. Quote
