5fishlimit Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 My favorite is a daiwa zillion on a 6'6" mh/f Duckett. It can do everything I need except dropshot. For that I'm eyeing a daiwa pixy. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted October 25, 2013 Global Moderator Posted October 25, 2013 Right now my favorite casting setup is a Phenix M1 X11 crank rod with a 2nd Generation Revo S. And a Phenix M1 M/XF spinning rod with a Symetre 3000Fj reel. Mike Quote
EvanT123 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 2500 stradic fj 7'0MLF avid. That thing can do almost anything in ipen water and light vegetation. Quote
DogmanRich Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 East coast sports 6'6 rod, pflueger president 6935 spinning, abu revo s 3 with the 7'0 med vendetta casting. Quote
bass1980 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Since you got a cranking setup I suggest getting an all around setup. $300 is a good price point. $200 reel and $100 rod. Mine is a Chronarch E and *** *** MH. You'll like this combo. Balances great. This is a very versatile setup. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 26, 2013 Super User Posted October 26, 2013 I don't love my gear, I love my wife. Of course I like the combos I have or I wouldn't have them. Point is it doesn't matter what others like, it's what would be comfortable in your hands. For sure ! For spinning, I have a Sedona on a St. Croix Triumph. It's nice for just about everything and makes a good all-around setup for pond-hopping. This or something similar is all I need for pond bass fishing, 1 step up in both rod and reel for canals. My latest combo is an 8' inshore Okuma cedros with a Quantum Cabo 40 reel loaded up with 300 yds of 20# braid, like it a lot. Quote
Capt.Bob Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 The Team Lew's Pro Supertuned with jerked over drag and ceramic bearings, on my Custom St Croix Extreme 6'10" MXF, the rear outfit,The It is a very light fast and sensitive setup which excels at casting weightless soft plastics, as well as as heavier Carolina rigs, with the power to land larger fish. Not the lightest outfit, but at just under 11 oz. makes it easy for an old man to fish without fatigue for hours!! Here it is in the rear with it's bigger sibling, the Team Gold and 7'2" MHM Extreme, both reels have the 7.1:1 gears. This is my newest one. Quote
