Really? Eye insurance? Wear some Z 87's and be done with it if you're terrified of a jig putting your eye out. Or maybe use some common sense and say "hey that could put my eye out" and not do that. Kinda like using a knife. Don't pull towards yourself. Much cheaper than a special set of "fishing glasses". Going cheaper also allows you to buy more lures. You might get lucky and buy that special lure that beats all the others.

Again, wear some Z87 rated glasses if this is a worry. I can't even begin to count the people I've outfished wearing no glasses in regard to those wearing "polarized". Those same people are mad cuz I did it in my 17 foot basstracker with a 40 hp motor and Hummingbird monochrome fishfinder. They also went out and spent $700 on a new driver and putter to out drive and out putt me on the golf course.

If you can fish, you'll catch fish. If you can golf, you'll make par or better Or at least shoot in the 80's.

Sound fishing techniques seperate the catchers from the fishers more than extranious equipment like glasses, especially in amateurs. Leave the minutae to the pros and fixate more on the technique. There hasn't been the 1st bass that said "hell, he's wearing XXX brand of glasses, might as well quit resisting that bottle cap he's throwing at me".  What ever happened to just having fun while fishing?

What's the point in getting all butt hurt over what other people choose to spend their money on?  You wrote 4 paragraphs of complete nonsense.  You don't have a clue what we're even talking about.

I've been through countless pairs of Oakleys, then to Costas, then back to Oakleys, until I found out about Kaenon Sunglasses (lot of big name baseball players where them and I decided to look them up). Made in Italy, so somewhat expensive, but holy cow clarity wise is amazing. I've converted a few friends from Oakley to Kaenons already...

I own three pairs now and sold my Oakleys.

Wait foooorrr iiiiitttt... here comes the Costa vs. Oakley debate.

So was I right or was I right.  You guys never let me down for a good ol' fashion sunglasses debate.

I don't think that is the point. Obviously sunglasses are not going to turn an amature into a professional. No one is arguing that. There is definitely a need for eye protection on the water. Firstly, even without UV rays, you never know what may come flying into your face and take an eye out. Secondly, this is the same thing as comparing a $50 rod to a $300 rod. For your average person it isn't going to make a difference. But for a guy who is competing for thousands of dollars all the time and fishes 80 hours per week, the difference may be bigger. The same applies to sunglasses. The $30 pair of polarized shades will probably work just fine for someone who fishes once per week. For someone who fishes 5 days per week or more and every fish has a huge impact, those expensive sunglasses might matter. If one fish was the difference between $100k and $10k you would want those better shades.

costas 580G green mirror glass is the best sunglasses you can buy..

Yea I justed didnt want to pay sub 267 dollars after taxes

I had a pair of Ray Ban polarized sunglasses, about a $120 pair. I could see fish in the water quite clearly. I never compared them to inexpensive polarized glasses, but the quality of the glasses I had let me see fish in the water well.

look for it on ebay, i got a 580G for 125 bucks on ebay that i won off a bid. i always buy smart. if you cant find it then get the glasses 400p. one thing to remember, get the green color lens. black is for street, blue is for ocean/offshore and green is for inshore/freshwater. match the color with the same application you are doing, is a tip that alot of people are ignorant of.

I have at one time or the other owned, Oakley, Solar Bat and Wiley X, but I came across this company Guideline a couple years ago and have not looked back. I presently own a pair of there Eclipse ($69.95) in what they call there deep blue six lens (Basically smoke with blue mirror) and a pair of there Draft ($59.95) model in what they call there freestone brown lens and I could not be happier.

There light weight, well built, cut the glare of which in return does help see things in the water very well. I can actually see into the pockets withing the weeds very well on some bodies of water I fish, spots I have fished for years and I am constantly noticing something I have not seen before. There not magic but do work just as well if not better then those I listed above IMO. There also priced well below the others I mentioned. Another thing I like about them, being as I have a big head, they fit great and the lens coverage is perfect IMO. Bright days the Deep Blue six is the ticket, low light or site fishing the Freestone are outstanding IMO. As far as clarity goes, I don;t really notice any difference between them and the Oakleys, Solar Bats or Wiley x. I have never tried Costa or glass lens so those may be a whole different ballgame, but for the price these perform as well as the others I mentioned IMO.

The one thing that really separates them IMO is there customer service. The very first pair I owned was a interchangeable lens system (Discontinued) and those frames has issues. I must have broke those frames at least four times while changing out the lens. Every time I called, no hassles at all, they would send me out a new frame of which I would have with in a week of the call. They stand behind there products and to me that is a big plus. No issues at all with the two pair I have now, but its nice to know that if there is that they will take care of the problem.

Been a while since I have posted, just thought I would chime in with another option in the under 100 bucks that I did not see mentioned. Worth checking out IMO.

I always like this topic, and always try to be consistent in how I answer. You only have one set of eyes so how can you put a price in your vision? Do some research on how UV rays effect long term vision. Find a manufacturer that filters the most of these harmful rays. If you need to save some money to pay for said glasses, I would advise you do so.

To those of you that loose, break, drop, sit on, or do anything else that results in the untimely demise of your prized lenses and think a little extra $$ is not worth the effort, believe me if you have any respect for the almighty dollar, you will pay more attention to how you treat your glasses.

I have been a fan of Haber sunglasses for quite a few years now. 5 to be exact and my pair are amber glass lenses with one very small scratch. The finish on the lenses is flawless. These glasses are only used when fishing, driving, beach and anytime not involving work.

I will be purchasing another pair before the end of the year!!
