I'm looking to get some reviews on the dobyns cw series. I recently purchased a dx743 and was planning to get a champion 735 for frogs and jigs. Well I found out Dobyns is discounting some of their rods if you've recently made a purchase, and one of those options is the cw735.

I'm curious how this rod compares to the champ series, and if its worth spending the extra cash or if I should go with the deal on the cw.

I use a Savvy 735 for frogging and its been working great...The Coalition rod is pretty close to the Champs in terms of sensitivity, but not quiet there..You really cant go wrong with either rod..Its hard to pass up the deal on the CW with Dobyns Running that promo..

CW series is pretty much a savvy rod with the camo print. Still nice rod. I have the 735 In coalition and champion.

I've been told the same several times.

A quote taken from Gary on a other site, basicslly Gary says there is more noticeable jump from Savvy to CH than say the CH to DX. The CH rods have faster tips than the savvy series

I thought I read somewhere the cw was a different blank than the savvy. I haven't been able to find the link where I read that, so I may have imagined it

CW is NOT the same blank as the savvy OR the Champions..

CW is a step up in blank from savvy and just below the Champs..

Gary had to use a different blank to hold the Camo pattern to it..

i got a savy and a 735 champion both great i cant really tell a big difference besides the split grip. the champion seems be a little better backbone and little higher quality. i throw frogs and flip and pitch jigs with it and its great rod you can throw swimbaits also.
