Specifically, North or South Dakota, Montana, or Wyoming? I found some work in those areas I'm debating on. Pay is good and work sounds fun. However being born and raised in the Deep South. I am curious as to what the weather is like up there. Is it always white and frozen all winter? Or will it thaw out sometimes? Exactly how cold is it?

Yeah I can look it up, but I'm curious about first hand accounts.

Also do the people live in igloos in aome of the wilderness areas? This isn't a deal breaker I'm just curious.

I think North Dakota just got 2 feet of snow, unless your part polar bear, stay away.

I'm built about like one. Even got the fur! Plus a soon to be, gnarly mountain man beard/giant goatee!

I was in both N and S Dakota in the middle of winter for projects.

I will NEVER do so again. I'd flip burgers before subjecting myself to that kind of weather again.

Talked with my accountant yesterday. I can't write a fur coat off as a business expense. Well bye bye 30grand chinchilla trench coat. Cant even write off a mink coat like Kanye is wearing.

I've got a cousin who is a large animal vet. He did studies in N/S Dakota on mule deer populations.

He's originally from TN and didn't really seem to mind it, although he did say some of the winter days were BRUTAL. Guess it all depends on how much you are gonna make. I can tell you one thing, the bird hunting there in PHENOMENAL.

I had to get up every 90 minutes, all night, every night, to start my truck. If i didn't, it would not start in the morning. It was a brand new truck, not a beater. Went for two months basically without sleep, and never got warm except when in the shower.

Like I said, never again.

That is horrible. We would be in a camp at different refineries and various places. Apparently they have a bunch of bunk houses. And a cafeteria set up for the workers. So everything is walking distance. Some of the places they airlift you into.

Yeah Raider you might not want to pack those, they will turn into fish-sickles in a second.

I figured that was a yankee thing.

We get a inch of snow and the whole state shuts down, down here.

Personally I prefer the cold. I was all excited thinking I was gonna get to stay in an igloo. Then you came along and ticked on my cloud!

He can pack them. Just transfer the fish here http://www.toxel.com/tech/2013/03/06/toilet-aquarium/ when he arrives. It'll give him some entertainment on those cold winter nights

That's freaking awesome! My wife is gonna kill me when she gets back in town Sunday night. I'm either ordering one or begging for one come Sunday.

Didnt think igloos had plumbing lol

Apparently, they don't HAVE igloos. So looks like I get a bunk house with a fish tank toilet instead.
