i use the st. croix legend xtreme 69mlxf for both shakey heads and dropshots. no issues. love the rod.

I would agree using a ML/XF rod would be fine, but I think a ML/XF Legend Extreme (or any St. Croix) has ratings more like a M powered rod.  :eyebrows:

I'm assuming he is asking if his ML/F Shimano Compre 7' would be good enough, I'd say yes.  I own a Crucial DS Rod (ML/XF), it is an awesome DS/shakey head rod, especially using light weights.

I'll list what I use on each setup.

Spinning,

Topwater, spooks, frogs, top props, prop torpedos, minnow props.

Carolina Rig 1/8oz. Senko, Brushog, Creature, Swimbaits, worm.

Crankbaits, rapala minnows,

Smaller light weight lures/spinflys/cranks.

Spinnerbaits 1/8oz to 1/4oz.

I carry these 5 rods normally for shore fishing.

5 setups is a bunch of setups, I can fish anywhere with one, but let´s not split hairs, with 3 I´m more than comfortable, choosing the rods it´s not difficult:

Spinning.-

GLoomis SJR782 IMX

Baitcasting .-

GLoomis MBR784 IMX

GLoomis CBR785

Choosing the reels ....... I have so many options and I like them all so much that it´s difficult which to choose.
