Got1Fishing Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Hey fellas, I started a thread a while back, and I asked for advice on straight FC on my BCs. I went from braid with leaders to FC and I loved it, but kept having backlashes. After a few weeks of fishing straight FC, I love it... but I would like some advice on how lines. Currently I have 2 spools of 10lb Seaguar Invisx 10lb, and 1 spool of 20lb abraizx. I put on KVD L&L the minute I spooled them up on my BCs. I've noticed a big difference with invisix and abraizx compared to the red label. red label just sucks in my opinion. With the 10lb spools, I noticed that the length of line I'm generally using does not have memory. If I cast farther than what line I'm normally using I see some memory, but it quickly loses it. With the 20lb line, it acts the same, but it takes a little longer to get rid of the memory, I'm assuming it's because the line just has a thicker diameter. I've been looking at Tatsu, and Sunline Shooter, because people almost exclusively have good things to say about them. Is it worth the money? I'm not asking for brand loyalty, but I'm asking for the advantages of using those lines. For almost double the price of what I'm using, can I expect a FC line that won't have memory at all, that casts, better, and be stronger? I'm in college, so $35-40 for lines is pretty expensive. I'm happy with what I'm using, but if paying double the money will eliminate those little annoyances, I would slowly convert to more expensive line. Thanks guys. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Start out stepping up to sun line sniper. I've tried em all and I feel sniper is the best bang for the buck. It's a huge step up from abrazx and not far from tatsu and shooter imo Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 21, 2013 Super User Posted October 21, 2013 See FC brand preference thread on this forum page. Quote
Brian Needham Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 I like the Tatsu. you can do a search for "tatsu" and find some of my previous comments along with roadwarrior's and hooligan's comments as well. I find Tatsu to be strong and abrasion resistant. ALWASY use backing and only use 50-65 yards of "top shot" which will give you 3 or 4 reels per spool. Tatsu yard per yard price is not that expensive since it is a 200 yard spool. Granted before I used tatsu, I used BPS XPS flouro, so it was a pretty big performance gap to make my "conclusion" on. Super User iabass8 Posted October 21, 2013 Super User Posted October 21, 2013 you're in college and probably on a budget. don't "waste" your money on tatsu. I say "waste" because its my favorite fluorocarbon but if you are just fishing for fun and there's nothing on the line, there isn't really a need for you to be spending 40$ on a spool of line at this point in your life. Stick with Sunline FC Sniper. best 24$ you'll spend on 200 yds of quality fluorocarbon. Quote
Got1Fishing Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 I'm actually in my college's bass fishing team. We just started up new this semester... So I'm actually fishing quite a bit, I was wanted to do a little research on finding out more about FC, because I've always been a braid kind of guy. I'm pleases with the FC I have now, but if Sniper FC Sniper is better and about the same price I'll be changing out my spools in the near future. I just want to make sure I'm not blowing my money on something that will still have line memory, and act the same way. Quote
crazy cranker Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Go to Tackle Tour reviews. They did testing on many manufacturers and list the results. It is a two part review so be sure to read both part 1 and part 2. Scroll through the archives to the section on lines and find "fluorocarbon showdown." http://www.tackletour.com/menuarchive.html Quote
Arv Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Sunline Sniper is the way to go if you ask me. Never tried Tatsu, but I also can't personally justify spending that much on line. Quote
