wbassrogue Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 muy grub to be exact i was throwing ikas, and hollow body swimbaits this sat and nothing was biting,as a last ditch effort i switched to a smoked red black fleck muy grub on a 3/0 wide gap and a 1/16th oz bullet sinker i got one really hard strike and a few casts later i got my bass of the year just as we were heading in. saved me from being skunked. i dont give much thought to the humble grub, but i certainly will from now on.. anyone else digging the t-rigged grubs? Super User NorcalBassin Posted September 16, 2010 Super User Posted September 16, 2010 That's my "panic box" go to bait. Grubs will get some dinks, but they'll also get you some hogs. Quote

Clyde Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 No. you cant catch fish on those baits. This thread should be locked. : Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted September 16, 2010 Super User Posted September 16, 2010 ....i dont give much thought to the humble grub, but i certainly will from now on..anyone else digging the t-rigged grubs? I just sorted my "catch log" and I've caught 575 fish so far this season on t-rigged 5" single-tail grubs - the last one being an 18", 2.66lb bass caught about an hour ago... Quote
Clyde Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 On a more serious note from my other post I have been hitting them hard with a 5" fat albert grub from Zoom. I been using it on a picasso or owner shakey head jig. I love 1/16 oz for about 8' or less of water then I go to 1/8oz. Quote
Josh Bassman Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I haven't tried a bullet weight, but they are great on a round jig head. I like to slowly reel them through flooded willows. Quote
Super User Tin Posted September 17, 2010 Super User Posted September 17, 2010 It's the only way I fish mine. I went from the Fat Albert to the Berkley because I like the scent. One of my favorite baits around the spawn period. Quote
OHIO Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 It's the only way I fish mine. I went from the Fat Albert to the Berkley because I like the scent. One of my favorite baits around the spawn period. This. A Kalins grub during spawn will catch everything. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted September 19, 2010 Super User Posted September 19, 2010 T rigged grubs are an awesome bait and a good alternative to regular worms. In areas without weeds a grub on a jighead catches plenty of bigmouths as well as smallies. Fat Alberts and the bigger power grubs are my favorite. Also like Bass Pro Shop's 4" caterpillar grub. Super User Jigfishn10 Posted September 19, 2010 Super User Posted September 19, 2010 T-rigged as well as on a jig head. Grubs are a must have in my box! Quote
MMan16 Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 I've never really thrown any type of grub. The closest to it was the small ika and i caught everything in the water pickerel, bluegill, crappie. It was alittle discourage and thats why i think i never tried any type of grub but maybe next year i'll add the to the bag. Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 20, 2010 Super User Posted September 20, 2010 Not many weeks ago I said that the 5 inch curly tail worm is as close as an almost all around bait as you can get with a good selection of terminal tackle, in the hands of a skillfull and knowledgeable angler it becomes a fish catching machine. A big X2 ! I'm up to 598 fish caught so far this season on 5" single-tail grubs - nearly all caught with the grub rigged weightless and weedless on a 1/0 EWG. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted September 21, 2010 Super User Posted September 21, 2010 I can hear the snickers, but white Mr. Twisters have saved many a day for me. Quote
bassman018 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I have used the mister twister on a jig head and a zoom grub on a jig head with decent results, i guess I will go out and get some bigger ones with some fresh hooks and give it a shot! Quote
mk49 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Back in the 80s, I used 4" grub t-rigged or jig head a lot. I stopped using it, because I felt like I was cheating. They just catch fish. Quote
tennsopher Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I once had an old guy smoke me in the early 70's on a fly and rind (a bucktail jig and pork strip).later I learned to fish a grub on a jighead. This bait will catch any gamefish swimming. Quote
