Have the shad and baitfish moved into the creeks? They should have by now but you can never be 100% sure.

Follow the baitfish. If they are in the major creeks or main river then fish there. If they have moved into the backs of the creeks then head there. Check the water temperature and then keep an eye out for the baitfish.

Shad colors can work but so can others depending on the water clarity. Throw your favorite colors and then change to try to find a different pattern if you don't succeed with your original offerings.

Don't forget swim jigs, too.

Hit all wood and grass plus piers and docks with your plastics and swimming flukes. Spinnerbaits can be productive in white plus Chatterbaits.

Drop shots will also work.

Don't limit yourself. Find the pattern.

Good luck and let us know how you do.

The river's been high and muddy. I fish jigs or creature baits around the big rocks up there. Watermelon w/blue or green pumpkin with some red or orange. The largest seem to like to be in cracks or under over hangs, and you never know what's going to bite up there. Oddly, I haven't seen the shad back up the creeks yet.

Well I do know the shad and herring would start to show up right around the time the cherry blossom trees bloom . And that's what I would go by for the most part.

Yep, I think the Army 10 Miler was last weekend and the Marine Corps Marathon is this weekend.
