Well guys, the BPS where I work in Cincinnati is moving. We got the word yesterday. I guess I had a nice run, but looks like it's over. Not too far, but to far for me to drive.

That sucks man. I thought most all BP's were doing well

It is actually. We are always among the top 5, in sales. It's just that they feel this new location will do much better, and I have to agree. It's right off I-75, catching all the traffic going north an south. As far as my job, no harm done, as I am retired, and this was just part time, something that was fun to do, and paid for my fishing tackle. I had been pondering hanging it up anyway, so this just made my decision easier.

They are building this store, and it is going to be MUCH bigger than what we have now, complete with a pub and bowling.

These stores don't usually move, they normally just open a new store and add to the chain but I'll tell you what prompted the move, a demographics shift. This happens in areas were the target demographic starts to decline so the store moves to an area that will be easy to access for a larger demographic. I live in a small town and 20 minutes from my home is a Cabelas, 40 minutes is a BPS, the reason is 1 out of every 7 residents has a hunting license, 1 out of every 4 has a fishing license, in those there are some that have both. Our Cabelas is a super store, they get around 15 trucks a week, that is what a lot of store do in a month and BPS isn't hurt one bit, plenty to go around and there is even some small mom and pop type places that are still doing good because no matter how bad the economy is here, everyone finds the money to buy hunting or fishing stuff. That said it is a shame your store is closing, I know how I would feel after having both near me for over 10 year, I'd be devastated since I thought I would never see the inside of one of those stores to begin with.

Where is the new store going to be located

In West Chester. Just a few more miles than I want to drive to work. I will still drive the extra to shop, just don't want to do it on a scheduled basis.

I hope when they make it bigger they don't do what they've done here in Fl.  The fishing department gets smaller and the knick knack section keeps getting bigger.  Great place to go if you want a duck dynasty tumbler or a 3 man inner tube, but its getting harder to find legitimate bass tackle there.

I caught wind of this a number of months back, just wasnt sure if it was going to happen or not.......Guess you answered that.

i live on the east side of cincinnati so it may be the same distance.  rather than cutting through tri county, i just head north on 75.  how far on 75 will it be?

Reminds me of the BPS in Toronto, Ontario. A decent fishing section but it's a fraction of the store.

Up in Westchester, somewhere in the vicinity of the old Voice of America field.
