boostr Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 I try to go fishing at least three times a week, I get out at 2:30 and I don't have to pick up my kids til 6:00 on two of the days that I work so I go fishing till a quarter after five those days then I have one day all to myself while they are in school and that day is like heaven I get to fish from 7:00 a.m. till 5:15 p.m. I have about ten ponds on base that I frequent and five or six different lakes within 20 minutes, winter is startin to close in here in jersey though so there may not be a whole lot of time left to fish I try to usually go 3 times a week, but its on the weekends only, once in the morning twice in the evening, and when I get my three day weekend maybe four times. Its just the 5 and 4 days in between I have to work that make it feel like it takes forever to get to the weekend. Quote
boostr Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 This is going from waiting time between fishing chances, and KOH... this is great. Quote
aceman387 Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I am fortunate to live in an area that is surrounded by forest preserve lakes. I have some lakes that are minutes from my house so I try and get out before work to shore fish and then back out again in the evening with my kayak. Things have changed quite a bit with fall and winter coming and the declining sunrises and sunsets (bummer!) When I got back into bass fishing a few years ago I remember an old timer who was fishing told me "you don't want to go out more than a couple times a week or you will get sick of it" I wish I would run into him again because I would tell him it has the opposite effect on me, the more I fish, the more i want to fish. wademaster1 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 It definitely blows to have to wait any period of time to fish but I will say this: if there's a will, there's a way......lots of people don't go the extra mile to fish when they could've gotten at least a little time on the water...... Super User Bankbeater Posted October 19, 2013 Super User Posted October 19, 2013 I'm working a ton of OT. Probably won't be able to get out on the water until Thanksgiving. Hope the water will still be soft then. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted October 20, 2013 Super User Posted October 20, 2013 I've become a full-on addict over the last two Summers, work two jobs, and have family duties as well. I try to get out at least a couple times per week, but if I don't, c'est la vie. I've relearned a ton of info from this forum & had a great Spring & early Summer, so I guess I don't mind waiting. It's just fun, and both jobs are great, so I'd have to say it doesn't suck to wait... Add: since it freezes up here every winter, I ski until fishing & baseball season comes back around. Quote
Mr. Bassin II Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I am spoiled I have a pond in my back yard. I fish at least one time a day. I also have 7 lakes and 4 rivers that are at max 45 miles away. Kinda sounds like it is down here in Louisiana, we have more water than dirt. I never have t travel more than 5 miles to find a place to fish. Heck, my backyard runs into a 200 acre private neighborhood lake. Can get an hour or two before work If I need to. Quote
boostr Posted October 21, 2013 Author Posted October 21, 2013 Looks like everybody gets their fix some way and some how. This is great. I actually woke up around 6:30am (I never really wake up that early on a Saturday) yesterday morning to try a new spot for me in my neighborhood pond. It was kind of chilly. Nothing was biting but they were in there because I saw them. They didn't like the spinner bait , but they were interested in a wacky worm texas rigged but no takers. went home around 9:30. Then I got my fix that evening at my favorite lake and caught a lm not big but good enough to ease my jones. Im ready for next weekend I get a 3 day. Quote
jessejames556 Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 It sucks, especially when your fishing weekend turns into a boat repair weekend..and you wait all week unable to concentrate at work because you're so excited to fish...but at least it is all fixed up and ready for next weekend..knock on wood. Brian Brazier Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Finally got some Bass fishin in today, I got a 1-2lb LM, it has been really foggy and in the 50's so its been slow latley. This was my first topwater catch, I used a Rebel Pop R Silver and Black, he hit it and went straight for the bottom. I didnt say anything to my buddy cause I thought I lost him in the weeds, when I finally got the weed bundle on the dock I pulled back the weeds and there he was. Quote
JellyMan Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I am a college student. I get one day a week in if I am lucky. AND I'm not working... of which needs to change pretty quick. Quote
BennyB Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I am a spoiled one. I live on a river that is loaded with nice Largemouth, my friend down the road has a fantastic private pond with some fattys in it and I can drive 5 minutes the other way to my favorite lake where there are true monsters (I just need to catch one now). I usually sneak in a quick fishing session every other day if not more often. Yes, it's a good good life! Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted October 22, 2013 Super User Posted October 22, 2013 It would suck even more for you if you had to wait all week had the weekend planned for some good fishing. Friday after work you load up your gear and get the boat ready. Saturday you are about to hit the water and all of a sudden it starts thunder storming Saturday and Sunday after weeks of no rain and perfect weather. That would suck a lot more Quote

Didn't even think of fishing in college was busy with other activities, and besides I went to college in NJ so it wasn't a "fishing area" if I went to school down here in FL I may not have graduated between fishing and other college activities Quote
