I better stop before somebody gets their feelings hurt and I end up banned. I got a warning last night, so I better not push it.

Yea, I can't ever say I have had my feelings hurt by a total stranger on the internet. Them SEC fans though, they sure do!
Super User Marty Posted October 18, 2013 Super User Posted October 18, 2013 I disagree with the advice to ask about the various job benefits. What you are trying to accomplish in an interview is to sell the interviewer on your high level of interest in the company, your skills and how you can help the company attain its sales and profit objectives. The time to talk about salary and benefits is when (and if) you get an offer. By showing too much interest in what's in it for you, you could possibly deter an offer. Good luck. Quote

In an interview I want to get to know as much about them as they do about me. How can my skills help them. How can they make use of my skills. What are they offering me for my skills. How can I further and hone my skills while working there. Yeah, it is all about me in that interview. Money is the third thing to be brought up. After the what I do, and what they do. If the money isn't there, then there is no reason to continue. Your time is valuable, and my time is valuable. I'm always polite and courteous in my interviews. I've never rudely declined a job in an interview before. It all comes down to benefits and money. Quote
EvanT123 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Marty is right. Generally you don't talk money until either 1.a second interview or 2. An offer has been made. For a job at the mall they will probably tell you or your going to get one interview and inquire after an offer has been made. Quote
GoneFishi'n Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 After the interview, don't forget to write a thank you letter! Quote
Super User Root beer Posted October 19, 2013 Super User Posted October 19, 2013 It probably a part time job, benefits don't exist for part-timers. Pointless in asking. Quote

EvanT123 Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Do you do that on dates as well? What's your occupation? Might want to try googling interview thank you letters. Pretty common practice. Quote

Might want to Google a sense of humor. Not a real common practice to have, especially on internet forums. 1 Quote
GoneFishi'n Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Do you do that on dates as well? Its what sets you apart from everyone else trying to get the/a job. Before you try to be an *******, know your stuff. 1 Quote

What do I know? I just see people struggling to find employment everyday. Might as well throw some humor and confusion into the mix for a young fella asking for advice. 1 Quote

Sorry, I sometimes forget that there are people out there who have their undies so far up their butt that they really have no sense of humor. I will be sure to make sure I never make a joke again when you are involved. Please accept my sincere apologies. Now, carry on with your uptight life. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted October 19, 2013 Super User Posted October 19, 2013 I just think it is funny that your "humor" isn't really understood by anyone other than yourself.....maybe it is time for some new material. I just figured when I said something about a Thank You letter for a date, that most people would figure it was a joke. I wouldn't expect you to get it either. You come off as a pants up the rear kind of guy too. Quote

I only send thank you notes if I make it worth their while. Otherwise nope. Quote

We all know you are a little "off" anyways In a trade, yeah i wouldn't send a thank you note either. in a retail or professional environment it is pretty standard stuff and could be the deal breaker between two pretty equal candidates. 1 Quote

Least your doing it for the right reasons. I see too many people languishing and hating their jobs. Yet they are too lazy or unmotivated to make a change. I respect what you are doing. Quote
