I teach in Ohio and working on the same thing:  the best advice is to go through the TBF bass federation to their student angler section.  They have a step by step plan that helps students and teachers start teams.  Some states have fishing as a sanctioned sport while others like Ohio do not but many schools still have teams.

You will need to find adults willing to be club advisor (much easier to find a teacher than someone outside of school but you might have to take what you can get there) then get yourself organized.  Approach your school with things pretty well thought out.  Most likely they will have a few hoops to jump through that the SAF student angler federation can help a bit with.

Then if you can find an adult club to be affiliated with (we could not find one here) it helps a great deal as the members will more likely be willing to take you out on practice trips and to drive you around on tournament days.  We have not made any progress on that part yet at all

best of luck to you and be patient.  It will likely take some time and talking to get through :)

I'm in the same boat. I'm lucky enough that a coach/ major worker for the athletic office likes to fish. I would say though, get a petition, if they know there is interest they are more likely to cave.

Yes it will.  No adults in Alabama until after football season comes to a close.
