Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 that looks awesome.. I just got a yak but I would definitely use one of those... how much tackle can you bring out with you? also just one rod? Quote
jignfule Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I use float tubes for trout fishing especially fly fishing. For bass I am much more comfortable standing and being above the surface of the water. For working the lures and for hook sets. Quote
Andrew420 Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 I take 3 poles sometimes but mostly 2 poles...hot days i add a cooler in back with extra waters. and yeah it takes some getting use to.. I do like bass boats i jump on them for a ride all the time... ADDED SOME PICS- UNDER LMB IN THE PICTURES.. ANY ONE WHO THINKS YOU NEED A 20,000$ BASSBOAT TO DO THE JOB YOU DON'T BUT A BASSBOAT SURE DOSE GET YOU THERE FASTER THAN A FLOAT TUBE.LOL Quote
Snakehead Whisperer Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 WANTED TO SEE IF ANY ONE HERE USES FLOAT TUBES??? I THINK IT'S MORE OF A WEST COAST THING. HOPE I'M WRONG... Here on the east coast I always hear them referred to as "belly boats." I'm from CA originally, and I used to use them when I was a kid (have a boat now.) Was thinking of getting one to hit a few spots that have no ramp access here on the river. They also seem like a good way to do a one day float trip... no need to have a second truck to drive back to the launch, as they'll deflate and fit in any car. Gonna be too cold to even consider one of those pretty soon out here though, but probably not so much in San Diego. Quote
Andrew420 Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 YES, VERY GOOD FOR NO RAMP ACCESS. I GOT TO SAY AFTER SEEING THAT SNAKEHEAD NO WAY I'M GETTING IN THE WATER WITH THEM :surprised-038:LOL... GUESS THATS WHY THEY SAY IT'S A WEST COAST THING... Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 ODC420 here! More fun landing a large fish than with either my boat or canoe. Andrew... where's the PFD? oe Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 Used to fish in one out west and it was pretty fun unless you were in a lake with a lot of house's and you had to do the ol squat thing at the other end of the lake!!! Now that I'm out east in Tenn there is no way on Gods green earth that I'm going to be eye level with all these snakes....nope no way. Chicken no....Fear and common sense!! 1 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 I wish I could use one but the snapping turtles from the size of the 30" tall tire on my jeep to 48" diameter shells have me worried. These guys have some really bad force when it comes to jaw pressure. The 48" one has a human sized head. I did notice they sit on the Rocky bottom trying to blend in as a rock and wait for something to swim by. I know I didn't spot it when it grabbed my timber doodle coming out of the weeds. He got the merry go round ride of his life too. But in the end he took my lure with him anyway I lose. When I hooked the 48" snapper it stuck it's head up as my son said you have a log, I said that's a turtles head. I wasn't the first one to hook him there was plenty of yellow braid on the ground. The story I got is he lost to this turtle too. My point is me out there in a float tube? Call me bait... 2 Quote
