Super User bigbill Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 Me and my son are working in the garage as the wall started to crackle then a loud snap and bang as the hair on our bodies stood up. It has happened a few times to us at the old house. We hear the crackling and both say here we go again. Not a good feeling to attract lightening its not my friend. Quote
KyakR Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 This is the reason I put a trolling motor on my yak! I was out in the middle of a sizable lake and couldn't paddle fast enough to get in. Lightning struck the shore near me! I never was so terrified 2 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted October 16, 2013 Super User Posted October 16, 2013 I had a street legal '98 husqvarna 250WR dirtbike that was first imported from Italy. I was out when the sky turned dark like night time. I knew one of those micro-bursts was coming. I was miles from home when I wicked the throttle and few home. I just made it but branches were falling all around me from the trees from the high wings. Another time we just launched my son's boat and were on the way to do some pike fishing when another nasty micro-burst hit. We had 4' waves. The lake was crowded and we were the pastimes off the launch it was that bad. I didn't know weTher to beach the boat or go to the launch. I can swim but I worried about all my tackle. But life does come first. I don't like it when the lightening is all around us. Every time those really dark clouds is a warning. Mother nature can get really unforgiving and nasty at times. 2 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted October 16, 2013 Super User Posted October 16, 2013 Earlier this year I heard of lightning hitting a full size van out where I fish. I don't fool around with storms, I go in. Quote

Greeneye8181 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Crazy. I've had an experience similar to this but I was driving. It blinded me and before I realized what happened I saw sparks and smoke flying in the air about 50 feet in front of me on the side of the road. Quote
