airborne_angler Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Ive seen baits made by "The Producers" from time to time on Ebay. Anyone know anything about this company? Hows the quality on their products? Quote
Super User Munkin Posted September 13, 2010 Super User Posted September 13, 2010 The spinnerbaits are nice but they only come in single blade. I picked up some on clearance for $2 each and use them in places I know I am going to lose them. Allen Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted September 13, 2010 Super User Posted September 13, 2010 Late 80's - early 90's this company sold quite a few baits, primarily because of their clever packaging. I never did think that their baits were anything special. I bought a few back in the day and they currently reside in the " unlikely to ever see water again" box. Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted September 13, 2010 Super User Posted September 13, 2010 I don't mean to be jerk here AA...............but (yeah I know, I am going to be a jerk) you are going to go broke buying lures if thats what you think puts bass in the boat. Every other day (or so it seems) your buying this..........asking about that.......trying this or that, if I had to give you one word of advice it would be STOP!! Don't get me wrong, you have great entusiasm, and are asking, for the most part the right questions. But based on what you have claimed to have bought you have plenty.........PLENTY, of fish catching lures. Too many if you ask me (which you didn't). You would be better served to buy a few decent quality, known producing baits, insted of all these bargin basement, or "great deals" you find. And then take these baits and learn to fish them. LEarn them inside and out, learn the when/where/and why's of each lure. Filling the boat with lots of tackle just because is only going to lead to one thing.............and it's not a full live well, it's an empty wallet. I hope I am not sound too jerky............cause I am not trying to be, it's your money spend it any way you want, I am just trying to help. Quote
Blue Streak Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Good post and I agree. If you have baits that cover the water column from top to bottom you do not need ten of each kind. Buy some good, proven, fishing baits and fish them hard and with confidence, you will catch bass. But on the other hand I had an old friend that bought fishing tackle like it was going to be discontinued. He knew he had "too much " and would never use all of it but he enjoyed buying fishing tackle. Said he was a collector. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I think the producer line of baits are 'seconds', knockoffs or factory rejects of Heddon or Rebel lures that didn't pass muster for some reason. They have a version of the Heddon spook that is exactly the same dimensions as the spook, but with a paint job that looks horrible/cheap. Same with their version of the flatfish, or other baits. I put the Producer company in the same category as Blaze or Matzuo (sp?). Mostly junk not worth wasting money on. Quote
rboat Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 I think you guys should cut AA a break. He is asking questions about baits to see if they work before buying and that is smart. If someone has questions about lures this is the best place in the world to ask those questions and we should encourage it. ww2farmer, your advice about fishing what you have is sound and I agree, however, some of us like myself have very limited time to fish and we look for answers to help offset the learning curve of time invested on the water. We all know there is no magic lure. Since we do not always have time to really learn each lure, we often stay close to fishing by purchasing lures, reading this site, watching fishing shows, etc. There is no real substitute for fishing, but these other things help us cope with items that take up the time we would rather spend on the water. Besides, without guys like us the bait monkey would die a horrible death and PETA would shut down our site. ;D Quote
Blue Streak Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 I tried to encourage him to use his baits as tools and learn how to fish each one and how to get the most out of them. I think that is a very key element in becoming a good fisherman. But we all know fisherman buy too much, guess it is just part of the fun. Quote

MyKeyBe Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 I've been very happy with there spinnerbaits. Picked up some a few years ago on clearance at Big Lots. Skirts are nice, wire is plenty strong, heads are detailed and realistic, finish on the blades are great, and they come with Sampo bearing swivels. What more could you ask for in a spinnerbait? Any other bait by them I have not used. Quote
Super User CWB Posted September 17, 2010 Super User Posted September 17, 2010 You've all heard of "Straight to Video" movies? Well, IMO these were "Straight to Bargain Bin" baits. Only place I've ever seen them is on the clearance rack or in the bin. That doesn't mean they don't work though. As for AA, as I've recommended before, do your research before buying, which in this case it appears you are. Not sure you got the answers you were looking for. I can't help as I've never used them.
