wsmith Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I love Dozers shakey heads. The keeper screw swivels so its easy to screw on creature/craws. Quote

brushhoggin Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 spot removers. someone has a jig head where the hook swivels separately from the actual weight. i wanna try those but haven't yet. seems like a better chance of buttoning up with em Quote

I've been using the Gambler "Giggy Head" instead. Quote
hookingem Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 spot removers reasonably priced and seem to work just fine for me. Quote
brushhoggin Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 thanks stasher, if you can remember, try and keep us posted on your success, or lack thereof, with those. i wonder if they hinder the "stand -up" action the shakey head is known for? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 23, 2010 Super User Posted August 23, 2010 Arkie U-Bolt in the 1/8 oz. Quote
Josh Bassman Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I like to use spot removers. Use the lightest weight you can get away with, so buy a few different weights. Robo worms are my favorite, but hula grubs work well also. Quote

If you use a floating worm, like Berkley's "Power Shaky Worm", it shouldn't be a problem at all. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 23, 2010 Super User Posted August 23, 2010 Was using the Spot Removers for a long time, Until I got my hands on some of the Moaner Hooks "Stiffy" jigs. Quality is all that and then some, plus way better pricing, incredible customer service, and super fast shipping. www.moanerhooks.com By the way... there isn't much better one one of these, than a Rage Tail Thumper or Craw! bassin is addicting Posted August 23, 2010 Author Posted August 23, 2010 it looks like the megastrike has a better design to ALWAYS stand up. seems like once in hits bottom the others will fall over?? :-/ i'm thinkin' the Lake Fork hyper worm would work good too?? Quote
Dockhead Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Owner Ultra Head - 1/16 usually, 1/8 once in a while. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted August 24, 2010 Super User Posted August 24, 2010 I'm partial to the original ShakE2 jig head. I know most prefer the coil lock to the barb holder, but I don't. Here's why. My most productive bait has been the Strike King 4" finesse worm in coppertreuse color. The problem that what makes them darn near indestructible also makes them impossible to put on the barb. I doubt they'd go on the coil holder either since they cannot be put onto the Owner twistlock hooks with the centering pin. I melt a hole into the end of the SK finesse worms with a heated safety pin. It can then be installed on the barb, but it has the maddening tendency to slip off on the cast from time to time. When I finally wised up and put a drop of super glue on the barb, that cured the problem, permanently. The worm stays on there until I lose the rig. Have caught over thirty bass and a few pickerel on the same worm before losing it to a rocky bottom. No matter that the worm is totally scuffed due to the raspy mouths of bass and the toothy mouths of pickerel. The old, dull worm produces the same as it did when new. I'm glad the original is still available. Quote
SDoolittle Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Tru-Tungsten Ikey Head Ball Busters are my favorite. Spot Removers are my second choice. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted August 24, 2010 Super User Posted August 24, 2010 Another vote for Spot removers. 1/8, 3/16, or 1/4 oz depending on the fish and wind. I use a Zoom Trickworm or finesse worm most of the time. Any color as long as it it is green/red or junebug. 8-) Good luck. I fished about five hours this afternoon/evening, and the shakyhead was the only bait that produced. It is a good arrow to have in the quiver. Quote
Big Tom Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 It is really neat how many different jig heads we all use. Quote

SDoolittle Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 those megastrike ones look amazing. I think they look pretty goofy, but from what I've heard, they really work. I need to try them. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted August 24, 2010 Super User Posted August 24, 2010 Tru-Tungsten Ikey Head Ball Busters are my favorite. Spot Removers are my second choice. I use the TT as well. I like the tungsten head on them, great feel. I tend to drag the jighead in addition to "shaking" it. I like to had the added feel of the tungsten. Quote
zerofivenismo Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Another vote for spot removers in 1/8, 3/16 oz. I favor the spring coil over the barb, but will start using super glue for the many barbed spot removers I have sitting my the box...thanks for the tip Rhino. Quote
BassLaw13 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I switched from Chompers 1/4 oz to Megastrike 1/8 oz and my catch rate has nearly tripled. I believe it is because the jig always stands the bait up properly. I have tried many others--spot removers, Picasso, etc. and to date, nothing compares to the Megastrike jig. Quote
