Archer Just Fishin Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I've accumulated 8 KVD 1001hke reels in the last month. And i'm blown away with how well they cast, dont back lash and smoothness. Seems irrelevant to ask the question, BUT..........are they any good. Or am I just buying my time. Also I need opinions on the Quantum KVD tour rod's as well as the Abu Veritas....................talk to me guy's Quote

If you're happy with how they're performing now, keep using them. 1 Quote
Paul Peixoto Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 ^+1. If your happy fish it. I bought one as a combo from bps and fished it as my first setup. Loved the thing at the time. It was light,11 bb and the Eva knobs are nice Breaking system is ok. Let me put it this way- it's made for mass production - it's not engineered. . It's a good reel. Not a great reel. (Also have revo, lews tourney pro, smoke). Quote
CDMeyer Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I have never personally used those reels or the KVD tour rods but I can talk from perspective of the Abu Garcia VERITAS..... They are one of the best Rods I have ever used. The best is the Abu Garcia Vendetta 1 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 No idea on the reels. But Veritas's are very good rods. I have fished with rods that cost twice as much and the Veritas will hang with them on performance, and they are one of the lightest, best balanced rods off the shelf I have ever used. They don't have as long of a warranty, or use top shelf components like more expensive rods, so if that's important to you look at something else. Quote
Khong Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 If it has KVD signature on it then it's good. LOL! It doesn't mean it's the best reel in the world but KVD stand by it and say they will perform well for the price it is selling. Coming from the best fisherman in the world, I think that is probably the best guarantee that the product will do well for what it's worth. Quote

The rods are pretty decent in my opinion. I got two crankbaits rods for fairly cheap so i dont mind them. If I were to have paid the retail price of $150 I would be disappointed. The blanks themselves are very big I could probably fit two fenwick m action rod blanks inside one of the rods. If abu puts a fuji reel seat on their rods i might buy one, other than that fenwick all the way. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted October 16, 2013 Super User Posted October 16, 2013 If you like them then that's all that matters! Some people have different tastes. Never owned an abu rod nor do I plan on it. A friend bought a Vendetta black max combo and the rod broke a few months later. Then the replacement broke within a month. So now he's on rod 3. He just purchased a Veritas silver max combo last week. So far he likes it. I've heard way too many quality control issues with the Veritas. Either they break and or have crooked guides and cracked epoxy. Quote
