thaddeusdowning Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Has anyone fished the Goose Creek Reservoir in Charleston? I am moving there and have found a nice home on this lake. Any information on what you caught and used would be appreciated. If there are any other good lakes around the area let me know those too! Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted October 18, 2013 Super User Posted October 18, 2013 Being in the Charleston area, you won't be that far from the Santee Cooper system of lakes. Also the coastal red fishing and shark fishing around Charleston is pretty decent Quote
carolinaguy99 Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I live on the reservoir and the fishing will make you question your skills. Its a VERY slow fishing lake. You'll have way more luck on the river systems. Quote
Tim Gamble Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 We're going to have a small club tournament there on the 14th. Anyone have any suggestions for this time of the year? We are mainly trying to stay clear of the duck hunters until their season is over and none of us have ever fished here. Thought it would be something different to try. Thanks in advance Quote
grampa1114 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 I've caught 3 bass in 10 outings so.....let me know how you make out. I've changed venues and am now targeting Lake Moultrie at the Hatchery. Good luck... Quote
Tommy Pugh Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 How is the fishing going over at the hatchery? I haven't done any good last couple of times over there. Quote
grampa1114 Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Gave up on the Hatchery and getting run over in the canal so we went back to Goose Creek and are having slow but steady luck out near the bridge at the road and if the water is deep enough near pads you might catch one. Shakyheads and crankbaits with an occasional swimbait doing the trick in the middle of the day. Averaging 2-3 keepers per trip and only going from 9-10am to 1-2pm. Brutally hot but I'll take what I can get at my age. Quote
SuperCorona Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 I've got basically the same report as grampa1114 above. I'll get bit punching some of the grass mats late in the day. Bluegill fishing has been good. The deepest part of the lake, that I have found, is back in the creek channel leading to the bridge. I've seen a bunch of fish in there but haven't hooked up with too many of them. Quote
Richard58 Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 I caught a 6 lb largemouth in a jig 3 weeks ago and a 3.5 this week. Jig for the big one and frog for small one. Fishing is tough but I am learning the water. Quote
