cjam93 Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I was looking at getting one of the Spro Bronzeye Shads and was wondering for topwater, does color really matter? If so what would you be looking for to use in a stained to muddy lake. Also, is there any difference besides looks between the Bronzeeye Shad and the Bronzeye Frog? They looked the same to me but I wasnt sure. Thanks! Quote
Brian6428 Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Yep. One day a friend and I were using frogs at a pond with lots of lily pads. He was using black, I was using white. Both booyah pad crashers. He had 10 strikes and I had 0. I dont know anything about Spro's bronzeye series so I cant help you there. Quote
cjam93 Posted October 13, 2013 Author Posted October 13, 2013 Ok well would you suggest a lighter or darker color for stained to muddy water? Quote

Super User bigbill Posted October 14, 2013 Super User Posted October 14, 2013 This is why I buy every color of every lure. I throw every color till one works. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 14, 2013 Super User Posted October 14, 2013 idk in lily's the color really matter or over scum for that matter. in open water I experiment.. I have many different colors. they all catch fish. but most of the time I think bass feel the frog pushing water and moving the pads around when you go thru with the frog... I've switched different colors before when they were missing my frog... and have them crush it or not even touch... but if you drag a frog over a bass in the pads and it wants frog it will go get the frog.. if it doesn't well you'll just be practicing casting till they want it or get annoyed Quote
Mike2841 Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I've got 8 spro frogs and most of my bites come from the killer gill color, after that my favorite is the black popper Also the bronzeye shad is supposed to be easier to walk than the regular frog. Quote
cjam93 Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 Sounds good, thanks for all the replies guys Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted October 14, 2013 Super User Posted October 14, 2013 My favorite frog color is black. My second favorite color is white. Consider water color/clarity, light conditions and sky coloration to make your color selection standout. 1 Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted October 14, 2013 Super User Posted October 14, 2013 black...creates best profile in all conditions. clear has also been one of my best topwater colors. Quote
Lip 'em! Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I like a natural looking frog with a green/white belly with maybe a hint of chartreuse during the day, and black at night. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 14, 2013 Global Moderator Posted October 14, 2013 I usually start with black, if that's not working I'll switch to black, if all else fails I'll go with black. 2 Quote
Paul Peixoto Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 At least 1 black and 1 white. Most of the natural color frogs (green) have white under bellies anyway Quote
MacP Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 ^^ what he said. The green frogs usually have white underbellies. Black and Frog colors (bronze or green spotted) for me. Quote
basshole8190 Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I am partial to black or all white also but the bluegill color seems to catch em as well if not better for me Quote
