Gonna be a good WS but it really is two teams i am not a fan of...i will have to give the slight nod to Boston though because of Victorino.

Going with the cards...I'm a fan of Beltran and want him to get a ring..  If he wasn't on the team I could care less who wins,  I just love the game and don't despise any team.

I think this year the two best teams in baseball made the big dance. I hope Beltran and company put a whooping on Boston in return for the one they put on us last time. I would not bet the egg money on it though with Boston having home field advantage. The NL has got to start winning the occasional All Star game!

A silly exhibition game shouldn't carry so much weight.

However, they were both 97-65 in regular season, and didn't meet in interleague play.

I like the idea of the all-star game ,  the best players from AL/NL playing for home field advantage.  but like K_MAC said NL Needs to win an all star game here and there..

They did win 3 or 4 i na row before this season i beleive so they do win some.  It has definitely changed the game though.  I still think it should be best record then head to head if possible and then interleague record after that.

7 out of the last 10 years the Team with home field afvantage has won the WS.

However, 6 out of the last 10 years the team with the better record won the WS. Interestingly enough, the 4 years where the team with the best record DIDN'T win the series, they didn't have home field advantage.

10 out of the last 10 years, the team that won 4 games has won the world series.. :eyebrows:  :eyebrows:  :eyebrows:  :eyebrows:

Cardinals! It should be a great series. I am not a gambling man, but if I were I would bet the egg money that there won't be a sweep this time around. GO CARDS!

Xrays came back negative.. he needs to come back strong... and their defense , well they need a pep talk

Three errors in one night aren't conducive to winning.  Wainwright also made a bad play:  Called for a popup and then backed off when he though Molina was going to catch it, so the ball dropped.  Doesn't count as an error, but it's the nearest thing to one.  Ouch.

Cardinals defense is normally great. I don't think we'll see any more games as sloppy as that one. Wainwright didn't look like himself from the beginning either, and I think he let the errors effect him mentally too. They'll bounce back, and play a lot better than they did in game one. Hats off to the Red sox though, they played a great game.

2013 WS game 1 is in the books.

As a Sox Fan, I think I can speak for All of Red Sox Nation when I say, it would have been tough to ask for a better game from the home team.

I really enjoyed the beginning, middle and especially the End of last night's game.

Clearly not a well played game but a Game 1 wins is a Game 1 Win.

One down - Three to go.

There are expectations of a better performance from the Cardinals.

Sox lost game one to the Tigers so the Nation knows there is still a lot of work to do.

Final scores shouldn't be decided on Umpire "Judgement" calls.......Who interfered with who? Middlebrooks was interfered with and couldn't make the catch and the fellow who is recovering from the sprained ankle couldn't climb over him....Go back to third base and continue the game.....duh...

Bad call, if they're going by the book, they can't give Beltran on the statue play when he got nicked by a pitch earlier in the game. But whatever.

What kills me if Farrell not walking the guy in the first place.  I don't know who was up next (Kosma?) and I don't care who was up next, it could be Babe Ruth, with first base open you walk the guy.  And also with Farrell, why do you have Workman get his first professional at bat in the top of the 9th of the WS if you're only sticking with him for two batters in the bottom of the 9th?  If that was the case, you might as well have pinch hit Napoli.  And Middlebrooks, there's NO WAY you let the throw from Saltamacchia get cleanly through you.  Block it with your face, your family jewels, anything.  That ball should not get by under any circumstance.

After the ball did get by, he lifted his legs to get up, then kind of went down, then lifted just his legs.  I think he was trying to get his feet out of the basepath where he assumed the baserunner would run, but I guess that's the rule.  I'm listening to the umpires (the TV's still on in the other room) and there's saying him lifting his legs wasn't the reason interference wasn't called.  So I have no idea what he was supposed to do.

If the runner was out at home, it was still a tie game.  Still no guarantee of a win by either team.  The Cards still might have won.  But the interference call in the judgement/interpretation of the rules by the umpires definitely lost the game for one team.  Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Lost in all the confusion was a great play by Nava, for being exactly where he should have been and making a great throw to the plate, and to Pedroia for making the initial play.

On to Game 4.  Game 4 is usually the swing game in any 7-game series.  2-2 or 3-1 = big difference in how the rest goes.

Can't go to bed until I've answered this for my mind.  After looking at all of the rules again, it looks like it doesn't matter what Middlebrooks did, the umps could call obstruction.  I'm not sure why Craig decided to run over Middlebrooks instead of taking a more clear path down the baseline, but in doing so he got the call.  Dumb luck.  It was then up to the umps to decide if the runner would have been safe if there were no obstruction.  In their minds it did.  It's a little frustrating because I'm pretty sure the home plate ump is the guy who blew the obvious first base call that cost that Tigers pitcher a perfect game a few years ago, and I think the 3rd base ump tonight was the only guy in Fenway who didn't see Kozma drop the ball the other night.

These umps are supposed to be the best, so let's hope there's no more controversy and the play on the field decides the games.

On to Game 4.

So far a disappointing performance by the "best in the league" umpiring team. .........On to game 4.......
