John105 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I can never seem to figure out how to tell the difference (even though I've researched it). Don't remember what the tongue was like unfortunately Quote
bgraham91 Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 That's a lmb, easy way to tell is by the solid lateral stipe. Quote
John105 Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 So, spots have more of a dispersed/diffused lateral line? Quote
Creekcrappie Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 It's a largemouth. A pretty one too. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted October 11, 2013 Super User Posted October 11, 2013 One can pretty much tell 100 percent of the time if it is a spot by the lateral stripe and if the mouth comes back behind the eye. Rarely do you have to look for the toothy patch on the tongue. That would have been a very nice spot. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted October 11, 2013 Super User Posted October 11, 2013 That would have been a dandy spotted bass! That's a good looking fish either way! Where are you fishing at since you don't have the location in your profile? Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 12, 2013 Super User Posted October 12, 2013 nice b@ss Quote
macmichael Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 The best way to tell a spot is if it has a rough toungue. That will tell you for sure. Quote
John105 Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Thanks guys. I never would have thought anything about it, but somebody saw the pic and said it could have been a spotted bass. As I said, I had no idea how to tell the difference at the time so I figured I'd ask. Quote
