cjam93 Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Hey guys so we had a cold front move in Monday. Tuesday was chilly but no rain, then today we have rain and a lot of wind. Today was 67*f, and tomorrow will be a high of 61*f, however Friday and Saturday will be 70*f and then 74*f. We have a 30% chance of rain tomorrow, and the same on Friday. However Saturday is only 10%. My question is how long after a cold front comes through does it take for the fish to be active, should fishing be better by saturday as opposed to fishing this week? Also would you say the front is ending on Thursday or Friday? Finally does it really matter when it ends, or just the first few days right after it starts? Quote

einscodek Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Really depends if there was lots of rain.. only a little bit of rain and water clarity is also largely unaffected.. I'm out there next day or day after lots of rain and the water temperature drops alot (> 5 degrees) .. esp if mud is in the picture.. I'll skip 2 days (excluding the storm day where I may try real hard to get out there) Quote

Lil'Gunner Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I always followed the 2-3 days of stable weather guideline others have mentioned. This year, though, I've had really hot action on the very first mornings of cold fronts - the very first cold, crystal clear day -- and right at daybreak. Once that phases out, which could be 30 minutes or 4-5 hours, then it gets real tough for a couple of days. Quote
