I've never used a chatter-bait before and I would like to pick a versatile one.  Any recommendations as to what I should pick up?

Tomorrow morning I leave on a fishing trip to Black Lake in upstate NY near the Canadian border.  Is there a particular color or brand that I should use.  I'm thinking maybe a black or a white.  Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

they patented their chatterbait, but threw a patent on others as well that they did not design, and are attempting to patent even more that they did not design, in hopes of takeing a larger portion of the market.  If they took half the time they spent in the courtroom, and applied it to bringing the quality of their chatterbaits up, their lures could be ten times better.  But hey, let them build their chatterbaits across the pond, and get patents on other peoples work, but I will never buy another chatterbait from them, period.

Fair Enough.

Can you recommend another?

I have some Pure Poison Baits from Strike King. On the back of the package, barely readable(marked out with black marker) it reads "Licensed by Rad Lures" Which is of course the first company to make the Chatterbait before Z man took them over.

Thanks for all the advice. I picked up a booyah chatterbsit tonight at my local dick's sportinggoods for 3.99. It is whit with a few strands of chartreuse. Came with a couple of split tail trailers. I'll give it a try this weekend. I'm assuming I would just slows roll them back toward the boat or burn them back.

Anyway,  I do appreciate the advice and I look forward to tomorrow hitting the water.

We'll be targeting bass mainly but at night we may try jigging for a few walleye. Need a nice shore lunch and walleye fit that bill.
