topwaterrob Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Anyone been to the Lake lately? I think I'll give it a go later this week. I see the water's holding about just under 16'. Quote
gar-tracker Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Fishing big and sloppy. Grass and hycnth everywhere. Their spraying like mad so lots of dieing vegetation. But the fish still have to eat. 23 won the Christian Trail up north 60 some odd boats, we came in just out of the money with 15 I think 16 cashed a check. Quote
salmicropterus Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 21# won our club T out of Harney last Saturday, with second at 18. Some good fish. As mentioned, lots of veggies on Northshore, Bird and the Box, some alive and some sprayed. Water temp still in the low 80s. Green water on the shoal as you work down toward Cochran's. I don't think anybody in our group went much north of Horse Quote
piscicidal Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I'm gonna give it a go this weekend. Next Thursday also....Haven't been there since first week of July. Quote
sunkboat on big o Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Gonna be there myself, haven't been in couple weeks. Might fish Carmens tourny sat or slims sun. Quote
topwaterrob Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 I heading to slims in the morning... Gonna try pelican bay for a few hours Quote
topwaterrob Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 Well I wish I could say I had done well.... Took a mosquito in the eye on the way out which scratched the crap out of my eye. Fishing wasn't much better. Fished around the west and south of kreamer only had a few hits. Fred you fishing tx this weekend? Quote
sunkboat on big o Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 yeah might fish carmens tom. but most likely gonna fish slims sunday. Heard alot of bigger fish bitting up north just a far ride from slims, why I asked you to say how you did today Quote
piscicidal Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I fished Okeechobee yesterday. First time on the lake in over three months. We got a little bit of a late start...fished from 7:30 - 1:00. Nothing going at all on moving baits. Finally caught a few flipping. Only caught about eight fish, but size was good. I got one good one (7.3lbs) and a couple 3s. I lost another fish that was an absolute beast... (hoping it was a mudfish). Scraped together about a 16lb bag....if that beast I lost was a bass I was well in the 20s (Jared McMillian won the tourney yesterday @ 23lb w/ a 10lber). I fished about 15 stretches and only two of them had any fish at all. I feel pretty good about those two stretches...need to find a couple more (going out again this Thursday) to feel OK for my tourney next Sunday. 2 Quote
gar-tracker Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Did anyone hear of an accident up there, I heard a guy ran over another boat or something to that effect? Quote
sunkboat on big o Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Tale of two way different days for me. Just practiced up off north shore sat for a few hours, there was a cracker boys tourney going on (bout 65 boats) which most seemed to be around there, I didn't catch anything, but i talked to Solis up there and he had I think around 27. For some reason I am always around the fish up there and can't seem to find a way to put them in the boat. We were flippin the same stretch to, oh well. Fished slims yesterday and had big fish of the tourney with an 8 even. Only weighed 3 fish. I was throwing back 13 inchers early cause getting bites early was no problem, then about 9 a 25 mile an hour wind started and getting any bites was tough. I finally found a good stretch to punch about 215, got 5 bited in 20 min, but with time running out i was jumpy and missed em. But was happy with the big girl. 1 Quote
salmicropterus Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 That was pretty much our day too. Ran up to shoal and northshore from Clewiston and caught them pretty good. Then that NE wind came up and blew up our areas. Made a not-so-fun run back down south and added a few punching mats Quote
bocabasser Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I fished slims tourny yesterday and had 15 pounds. We didn't get there until 8:30 because we were on the St. Johns River the day before. Found a head at 2:30 that I flipped up two four pounders. At 2:40 we had to leave to make weigh in. The hyacynth was so thick in the rim ditch, that you had to go through boyscout cut to get to pelican. The guy who won the slims event had 18 and change. He ran through that mass of hyacynth and banged up his lower unit coming back in. It always happens, when you win some cash something goes wrong with your boat. Fred I think I saw you yesterday at slims with that beast. I didn't recognize you or otherwise I would have introduced myself. Did that big girl make it? One of her eyes looked pretty crappy. Glad you won some cash. 1 Quote

As I was heading in a few hours later, the whole canal was covered. Quote
sunkboat on big o Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Yeah she was good, and I was hard to see from what I am hearing. All I have gotten on Facebook is hell about my headwrap. Just trying to get a little cover from that sun. I should have uncovered but the fish was struggling a bit and I was just in a hurry to get her back in the water. Wish we could have done the intro's, I'm kinda shy being new, most of the time at these things most of the guys know each other so I just go about my business, so if any of you see me and I dont say anything its not personal, but yeah sorry I missed ya. Anyone fishing that thing they have going on sunday? Cant figure out the picture posting so the 8lber is my profile pic. Quote

Glad you won some cash. You and Mike were right behind us pulling out of that boat trail. We would have said hi but figured you needed to make the weigh-in. I had Noah King with me and we were just fun fishing out of Clewiston Quote
piscicidal Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Anyone fishing that thing they have going on sunday? I'm going to fish BLM's tourney Sunday out of Slims. It's my first tourney in about four months and a little pumped to get back in the swing of things again. Would love to meet up with any of you who happen to be there. Quote
etommy28 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 If you are fishing the BLM tourney out of slims, consider also fishing the FGCU Fundraising tournament we have talked and will be allowing people to fish both. if you don't want to fish, at least get in on the 50/50 or Raffle. Quote
etommy28 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Did anyone hear of an accident up there, I heard a guy ran over another boat or something to that effect? That was during the BFL. Quote
salmicropterus Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 BLM stands for Bottom Line Mike (Lendl). Mike runs the King of the Glades Tournament Trail which runs roughly from January thru May or June. He also organizes a monthly club tournament, also called King of the Glades, which allows open competition. Google King of the Glades and you can can more info. Quote

topwaterrob Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Also the date for the first KOTG tourney is out I think it's the 5th of January in clewiston. Quote
etommy28 Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Just to clear up any confusion, The FGCU Fundraising tournament and King of the Glades will be going on at the same time and same place, this sunday at slims. instead of moving one we are allowing anglers to pay both entry fees and weigh the same fish for both tournaments.
