Jaiden Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 This spring and summer, I've pitched jigs, flipped jigs, and swam jigs. This winter I want to fish them slowly and on the bottom. Quote

Super User Felix77 Posted October 10, 2013 Super User Posted October 10, 2013 I'll be learning how to be a dad this winter Awesome ... congrats! Maybe we should start a dadsresource.com site. I know I can use it! LOL Quote
KyakR Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 With all the reading and videos here plus on you tube I review it all to keep the edge fresh in my mind. I hammer videos all winter till the ice is off but don't forget to clean and lube your reels too. While it's still warm I wash my lures and tackle boxes to get all the oders out. It's also time to get the tackle room in order too. At the sametime I check my in-house stock on everything too. It's also time to watch for sales and clearances too. There's slot to do over the winter. But on espn I wish we had more fishing shows on tv. Shows like Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston, Hank Parker, the old Jerry McKinnis fishing shows. Jerry was the man who started it all. He was building one boat per year to fish for bass. This was life before the bass boat. I miss all this shows. Even the old black and white tv shows of gada bout gaddis aka The Flying Fisherman with his float plane. I was glued to the tv on every sundaynite watching him. I just wish we had fishing shows on primetime again. We need another espn channel with 24/7 fishing. Gaddabout Gaddis! I remember him! He used to live up near Rangely, Maine! I'll be learning in general from glenn's videos and others online. In the spring I want to learn scuba diving, but we'll see.....glub Quote
Nice_Bass Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I want to learn what a 50" musky feels like. I also want to learn what a DD bass feels like, but may need to wait till spring on that... Quote
Super User bigbill Posted October 11, 2013 Super User Posted October 11, 2013 I'll be learning how to be a dad this winter Enjoy them for they grow up before we know it. We have to teach them all about life with the respect and love for each other too. And don't forget to pass on the fishing knowledge too. God bless, bigbill Your going to enjoy them now but wait till the grandkids come. My first grandson is interested in tractors, dirtbikes and quads at 3yo. He likes fishing too. My point is we enjoy or children but we get a repeat with the grandchildren too. Quote

After catching the 29" to 32" chain pickerel going for its next sized cousin must be a hoot to have on the line. I have three heavy duty bait caster setups all ready to go. With a soft bag full of pike/Muskie lures too. Quote

Super User MCS Posted October 11, 2013 Super User Posted October 11, 2013 For me, I want to be a better jig and drop shot fisherman. I didn't use them much in the warmer months. Joe X2 getting a new combo for christmas just for jigs, I am mostly a Texas rig fisherman during the summer. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted October 11, 2013 Super User Posted October 11, 2013 It is currently trophy/getting to be trophy season for esox species...don't wait till next year!!! I been bass fishing at a local lake were I seen a really big nothern pike feeding in the shallows. This place is stocked with trout so this pike has plenty to eat. The trout fishermen haven't figured out where all the stocked trout are going. I caught a pickerel there but it didn't look like a chain pickerel with its markings. It's teeth were very large on the sides of its mouth it had rippers. Baby pike? The state put great northern pike in one big lake to control the over population of white perch. Well here we are many bodies of water down stream that all have great northern pike populations now. I'll give it a try it's suppose to warm up soon. I'm hoping the winter is a mild one and it goes by as fast as the summer did. Quote
