swagkid300 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I was fishing at the whirl pool by Niagara Falls today, and i hooked onto a huuuuuge muskie about 50"+ when the muskie was like 5 feet away from me, i was about to net it, and the fish spit out the lure.. i was using a Jointed Rapala with 15lb line mono with steel leader bad day for me, i also had a big trout but it also spat out the lure Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 8, 2013 Global Moderator Posted October 8, 2013 Sounds like new hooks or a different rod may be in order. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 9, 2013 Global Moderator Posted October 9, 2013 New hooks doesn't equal good hooks. Lots of companies put cheap hooks on their baits to keep them at a certain price point. Very few baits that I buy don't get upgraded hooks right out of the package and Rapalas certainly aren't going to keep the hooks they come with on the rare occasion I buy a Rapala bait. 1 Quote
