Shimano Chronarch Ci4+ Or Core 50 Worth The Expense Over Chronarch 50E?

I've got a Curado 50e, 200e and G series and I was wondering if the $70+ dollars for these other reels was actually worth it. I know the reels are lighter and have refinements that you get when you move up the monetary scale, but when it comes to actual performance, are these reals THAT much better? I don't fish tournaments and do both boat and bank fishing and I've been pleased with all of those reels (yes, even the G series!). But I'm so curious about the next level and want to spend my money wisely if I go that route.

I own all three and the CI4+.  Yes it is worth it, the CI4+ for me handles better than the Curado 50E/Chronarch 50E.  The biggest difference is how the CI4+ can cast effortlessly, this is where I notice the biggest difference.  I can constantly throw 5-10 yards further and the best part is I hardly have to use too much effort.  It just flies off and smooth.  If you thought the Chronarch E series was smooth, wait until you try this guy.  I haven't owned a Core yet, but I hear the CI4+ is just under par vs core, but don't  have first hand knowledge.  Makes sense since the Core is suppose to be a step up.  If that is true, I may have to finally jump on a Core.  Having saying that, it is really up to you if the smoother performance is worth the jump.  Literally, I have to put a little oomph in my cast with the E series and G series to try and get close the new Chronarch.

 

Oh and I forgot to add, the CI4+ palms just as easilly as the 50 series even though it is a 150 sized spool.

Yes, Tackle trap for gear and pinion (comes in kit 27bucks) comes with metal top washer, carbontex from smooth drag 8 bucks (calcutta TE200).

Ive heard you have to upgrade drag washers for the washers to fit? I already had the upgrade prior.

You can get the parts right from Shimano too. I have a couple sets I ordered for someone that never used them. I'd have to check but I think it needed the AR collar too.

Hmmm, I think I will answer like this. If you fish a lot, yes the Core is worth the green. If you fish say weekends, not so much. If you simply enjoy using higher end gear that feels a little more refined you will enjoy the Core. Is it a night and day difference - not really, but the Core will add a little more and do everything a little better. As mentioned, the line pick up is a big one. It is totally up to the user to make this decision, so I see a mixed bag moving forward.

How about better bearings for your current reels? I notice quite a bit difference in my 50E's putting better bearings in. You could get one set of bearing to try out and switch bettween your reels to  see how they do. If you like the difference, 3 sets bearings may be the wiser solution for 3 reels rather than jumping to just one reel.

 Too how well do you use a baicaster like how many brakes 2-3 brakes? If you can train thumb better and go down to 1 brake low spool tension with most presentations this makes noticeable difference casting ease distance and turning effort of the handle.
