Super User DogBone_384 Posted October 5, 2013 Super User Posted October 5, 2013 My Vendetta's reel holder is empty. I've got it narrowed down to Shimano or Pfleuger and wanted to get some opinions from the audience. I fish from shore (unfortunately, but that's life....) and have been using mostly t-rigged worms/Senkos because I never did when young and I want to learn as much as possible about their techniques. My 'regular' spot is a reservoir about 3 or 4 acres, ranging from 3' to a reported 38', and has little in the way of surface growth so I'm open to any advice. Thanks, very much, in advance.... Quote

Cgrinder Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Are you prepared for the Shimano v. Pflueger slugfest that you're about to spark? We've been awful civil recently. I think we're due. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted October 6, 2013 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted October 6, 2013 I like Pflueger. I also thing Jiff crunchy is better than the creamy, which is equally valuable information. 2 Quote
motodmast Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 my vote is Pfleuger President, its $60 and a workhorse of a reel. ive had mine for several years and its still as smooth as the day i got it. i actually had it paired wit a vendetta 7'M rod at one point and it balanced well. you might want to also run braid with a leader, i found it made the vendetta more sensitive. 2 Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted October 7, 2013 Author Super User Posted October 7, 2013 Good start.... But first a few more details: i'm not really on a budget, per se, but I generally buy mid/upper mid priced rods & reels since college tuition is only a few years away and retirement on the horizon..... Thanks, and keep it coming! BTW, slug fest is good - keeps everyone on their toes. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted October 7, 2013 Super User Posted October 7, 2013 Stradic FJ would look sweet on the Veritas, not to mention it's a heck of a reel. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted October 20, 2013 Author Super User Posted October 20, 2013 Thanks for the replies. I ended up with another Pfleuger, a Supreme this time. Stayed within my comfort zone. Quote
