I'm looking at getting a new rod for t-rigging. Thought about one of these three. I have a compre and st Croix I love but thought about trying something different with the veritas. Not sure if I should cuz Croix and shimano have such great warranty programs and the Abu is known to break. What do guys think. Also should I get a m or mh. Leaning towards mh7'. Let me know what you think!

I have had all three. The only ones I still have are the Veritas. Each have there pluses and minuses. Shimano has the best warranty, St Croixs are the most well made, and the Veritas's are the lightest and best balanced. Sensitivity is subjective. I can feel things with $100 rods that other people seem to think you need a $400 for....

I'm still a fan of the *** at that price point.

$100 is also a good price range for used rods. You can certainly find Avids for $100, especially with the season winding down. Veritas is a fine rod but you can certainly do better.

I think you would be super happy with another St. Croix, and if you get a Premier it's made in the USA. I've had a Veritas and the rod tip broke on me, but I haven't had any issues with my Premier. 7' MH action rod is a great all around rod.

Veritas' break.

I'd go St. Croix, Shimano or even Okuma at that price point.  I like their warranty the best.

I love my veritas rods, the abu warranty dept has been great from experience.... I haven't snapped any rods, but ups did.

I've been using Veritas almost exclusively for the past few years. I've heard they break but I haven't seen it. And I set the hook hard. Anyone that's fished with me on a Road Trip can attest to that. Love them. Very light and sensitive. Haven't used any of the Premiers I have in a while. To the poster above, what do you think is better for $79.00, which is what you can get them on ebay for with full warranty? Can't comment on the Compre as I haven't used one. Go to a store that sells all 3 and fiddle around with them. Even put a reel on them and see how they feel. Really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks if you like it. Don't think you could go wrong with any of them. Good hunting.

I like my Veritas.

I recently picked up one of the *** *** Blacks and I like it a lot more though. It is an awesome rod for $100.

As far as Veritas breaking I've beat the hell out of mine and it's still holding up fine. I know others have had bad luck though.

I would go with wither the compre or the mojo bass rod and probabily a 7' medium. both of these are good rods very durable, with great warranties so that you can fish with confidence. I like the real seat on the compre, it gives maximum contact with the blank to your hand. the veritas is a great rod as well a lot lighter than the others with better balance, but apparently has issues with breaking for some people. really cant go wrong in your selection.

First off, welcome to the forums! Stop by the Introduction forum and say hey.

I have St. Croix Premier and Shimano Compre - previous version. I am not a big fan of the new versions, feel tip-heavy to me which I do not like. In fact, the Premier is also a bit tip-heavy. Between the two current generations, toss up. I like the weight of Veritas, but never pulled the trigger.

Now I was in BPS the other day and they have the new Daiwa Lexa rods. Holy cow are those things light in the tip. They also have a 5 year warranty, same as the Premier. If you can get your hands on some, see what you think.

Otherwise, if you like a "heavier" tip (yeah, subjective just like sensitivity), Compre for warranty, Premier otherwise.

I have 1 of each and imo either of the 3 are a good choice. If I had to choose 1 it would be the st. Croix because it seem to balance a little better with my pro qualifier.

Like someone else already posted, i would consider used. You can get a WHOLE lot more rod for your money if you are patient. I have even gotten a couple St Croix LTBs from the flea market here for under $125 shipped.

On another forum, there is a LTB 6'6" MHF Jig and Worm rod for $125 shipped right now.

That wouldn't be hard for me,,,,St. Croix all the way, Avid or if you can afford it, one of the LEGEND models!! No one offers a better warranty program, NO ONE,,,,,, :Victory:

In my opinion the (used both) Compre has a slight edge vs the Veritas.  So I'd go for another Compre if I were you.  If you want to change it up though...here are other rods you might think about - Bass Pro Shops Carbonlite and *** *** for that price range.  I don't either of these, but they both get great reviews and are around that price point.
