ColtDewd Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Kinda weird looking but what the heck right? Has anyone ever fished one before? They talk about an older model formally sold in the US, so I'm just wondering if any of you guys had ever fished one before Quote
Dockhead Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 My nephew has one, fishes it quite a bit. Fun to watch it coming through the water, action is unlike other frogs. Quote
DBatey Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 its a nice frog to show the fish something different from time to time. I've caught some really nice fish on mine, I was worried about the single hook when I got it, but the hookup ratio is fine. Quote
Super User Micro Posted September 6, 2010 Super User Posted September 6, 2010 Yes, I fish them, and they work. In my expereince, they are the best hollow body frogs available - by far. They come in a couple of sizes - 60mm and 70mm. I tie them on using a Rapala knot. The loop knot does not inhibit the action of the frog. The Rapala knot will maintain about 90%+ of line strength. Simply cast the frog into a promising spot and retrieve. Retrieve it slowly and it will walk across the water. It gives of a satisfying plop-plop-plop with its wobbles, and leaves a trail of bubbles behind it. You can pop it, too. The frog also walks well across matted grass. At rest, the frog sits at about a 45 degree angle in the water with just the head sticking out. The current model is the "hard belly" which has a hard plastic belly that gives the bottom some support and impoves hook-ups (allegedly improve hook ups). The original model, I believe, was called the "soft crawler" that lacked the hard belly. You can still get these but I think they only come in one color now - a ghost color. I have a lot of luck on the light green one with the white belly in bright days. I do well on the green, root beer colored and black one in latert afternoon and evenings. These frogs flat out work. Highly recommended. Quote
ColtDewd Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 Thanks all, I do believe I'll give them a shot. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted September 6, 2010 Super User Posted September 6, 2010 I think I need to give them a shot as well. Quote
