I would like to get some football jigs, finesse jigs, and some for tossing around structure like I would a texas rig. Anyways there are a ton out there and Im not really sure what I should look into. How are the strike king jigs? I liked the looks of some of those on *** but I wanted to see what other people recommended before making an order. Thanks guys! Quote

Any of the above mentioned companies are great. Also, see if you have a local guy who makes jigs. I am fortunate to have G&G Bates here in Indiana. Quote

Personally I'd look into them and get a quality jig for a great price. I fish Northstar jigs and do very well with them. Tons of colors and head options to fulfill your fishing needs. Grab some finesse, football, and alien style head in either the knockouts or black series and your ready to rock. You may also want to grab some swim jigs if you want to cover water. Swim jigs are a great alternative to spinnerbaits and flat out catch fish. Good luck! x2 on this. He nailed it. Quote

Ive read a lot that swim jigs are great in clear water, how effective are they in stained to muddy water? I'm in North Carolina and most of the lakes around my house stay at least stained. For fishing wood, what head would I want? Is that the arky heads? Thanks again guys! Quote

Super User slonezp Posted October 3, 2013 Super User Posted October 3, 2013 I use Northstar for 99% of my applications and a Buckeye mop jig in PB&J for the other 1% . As far as colors, I would start with 3. A black and blue, a brown, and a green pumpkin. You can fine tune your color secection once you get comfortable. Swimjigs are good in any situation but really stand out post spawn. The key to a swimjig is the trailer. I like paddletails and switch between a 3.5" and a 5" as needed. Again, 3 colors to start. Black and blue, white, and my go to is Bull Gill from Northstar. Quote
