MARsSPEED Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Three new fish today... Five fish total: 17.5", 16.5", 16", 16", 14.5" @ 80.5" 2 Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I have been catching them on a variety of lures. I have had a rubber worm, a crankbait, a jig, and a frog tied on every time I hit the water. When I go at night I have been using a buzzbait and a spinnerbait. The first 3-3 I entered was caught near shore in some reeds. The 6-0 was caught off shore on a rubber worm. The 7-0 was caught at night offshore on a spinnerbait. The second 3-3 I entered I caught on a rubber worm on an offshore rockpile. Fish are getting pretty active. The afternoon bite has been very good lately. 1 Quote
seekonkBass Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I am a bit jealous of you guys.. Although I did get a decent one Saturday, followed by a very disappointing Sunday without one hit. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 Got fish # 5 to fill out my limit. Fish #5 17 inches 2lbs 13 oz Time to upgrade Quote
Super User MCS Posted October 7, 2013 Super User Posted October 7, 2013 What happen to that fish's nose?? That last fish I entered had a deformed upper lip from being caught previoulsy. Helluva hookset! Nice work......Funny story my brotherinlaw told me. He took his wife out trout fishing for the first time and her first fish on she set the hook like a bass or snook and all she got was a set of lips. Quote

Once you get it down, it should take you under a minute. For me, before I begin my fishing, I put my phone in camera mode right off the bat. My tape measurer is either clipped to my waist or in one of my cargo pockets. Once I catch a fish, while I am holding it, I take out my scale, pull out about 24inch strip, place it on the ground, get my phone ready, quickly and carefully place the fish on the strip, snap the pic, and place fish in the water. Done in under, 60 seconds. If its a big fish, my scale is in another pocket, and its 2 extra steps. If I feel a big fish is out of water longer than I am comfortable with, I will place the fish in the water for about 10 seconds to keep its gills wet. Then take it back out and quickly finish. I am working on constructing a measuring surface that is more fish friendly, easy to get measurements, and portable. 1 Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 I've only been able to fish once this month and it was a tournament... I have a 4 day weekend this coming up so hopefully I can get on the water and get after some big girls! Quote

I timed my self yesterday I did it 43 seconds. Which just seems way to.long ... I'm used to catching and releaseing super fast if its a good one that j want to weigh about 15 secs Quote

And it makes it easier for you place fish snap pic let go. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 I made the measuring board for my small boat. It works really well. It is also better for the fish too. They loose a lot of slime when you put them down on the bottom of the boat or on the ground. I polyurethaned my measuring board. Just splash a little water on before you measure. It allows the fish to keep more of its protective slime coat. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 i have a yard stick cut down to 30 inch , then have it tacked to a piece of wood 30 inch by 4 inch wide , i carry on the kayak and another one (i just made)i started to carry in my truck. I wont put them on the grass anymore as i was told this is not good for the fish. which makes perfect sense. I have also one 8 inch wide tacked onto the support beam in my canoe. I also wet them first. There are pics of fish with them on it 3 Quote

Nashua Nev Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 going sat and sunday mornings, Nashua River Sat , not sure yet where on Sunday. I want to hit the CT river here in NH and catch a Pike, What launch area would be best? I guess there are a couple. Will take my jon boat or canoe with the trolling motor. Quote
MARsSPEED Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I don't know if I will be doing any fishing. We are getting so much rain, the water will be so muddy you literally have to hit a fish on its head with a large lure to get a bite.... Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 12, 2013 Super User Posted October 12, 2013 That ain't true. Dragging a Rage Tail Lobster along the bottom will get you bit in a lake filled with tomato soup. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 12, 2013 Super User Posted October 12, 2013 Muddy water.... I use baits like rattle traps, big spinners, chatter baits.. I like to. Move water... but then I will drag a big worm on the bottom.... bass get used to muddy water so don't count out fishing in muddy water!!! Quote
MARsSPEED Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 I tried during a small window today. I used a chatterbait, rattletrap and a white 7" GULP Minnow. Also tried a CHOMPERS Senko. Rage tails work great normally but I decided to go with the heavy duty scents. Didn't matter though, I retrieved slow, fast; fished flooded flats, fished on tight to cover, fished out in the open, fished under a bridge. Not a single bite and the first time this year I was skunked! Funny thing is I was so anxious to fish when I got to the lake I didn't observe the condtions where I parked. When I had to leave, on my way back to the car, I noticed the the "silt line" was right where I parked. If I had fished there and further south I probably would have had a field day. Oh well, live and learn I guess. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted October 12, 2013 Super User Posted October 12, 2013 and now I cant upload pics...I just resized them !!!! Quote
