JellyMan Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Congrats on the new PB. It only gets better from here. Quote
CountBassula Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Here are some pics to show what my boat looks like. There is the wood block mount for the front trolling motor on the right side. Center area cut out for where the 2 trolling motor batteries go, and the one in the back for the rear trolling motor. Both have painted wood covers for the front seat battery area, as well as the back one. Since I knew my friend was going to betray me, I put a time delayed hole at the bottom of the boat... happy fishing tomorrow! Quote
CountBassula Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 We went out today and it was slow. Its been getting hot out again. Some decent fish, but none to cull. Biggest bass was 3lbs. Was expecting to do a little better. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Mission Gambler Death T - 9 hours... tick... tick... tick... Quote
CountBassula Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 LOL...LOL... Martin wasn't joking that you guys are going fishing tomorrow. That's awesome. When we get in I guess we will all compare notes on here. Good luck tomorrow. No Lou. We'll be comparing our 25+ inch bass to your 15+ inch bass. It will be a sad day to be a friend of Gambler! 1 Quote
CountBassula Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Caught my personal best today. Once again the green pumpkin stik-o did the trick. 21 inches in length and fat....I think I finally get to call this one a pig. I do not have a scale, but I think this was definitely in the 5.5 -6 lbs range, Pics are of same fish one for length, the other for fun. Very exciting pulling this thing in. Also, used a nice trick I learned from the YouTubes (think it was a KVD video). The fish pulled me and stuck me to a rock ledge, then I gave it just a tiny bit of slack and I felt it loosen just enough to pull its head up and out. Lost two other fish the other day at same spot by giving it to much slack and it just jammed even farther in the undercut. Will keep that bit of knowledge for later. After the worms slowed I threw a spook and got 10 or so hits but not one hook-up. Would yall keep throwing the spook or switch to something else on the topwater? I just chalked it up to small fish, but I am not really sure. What do you think. Well, here is my fish......I am a happy camper today. has anyone here fished a jitter bug yet?!? it's THE BEST top water lure for early morning or late evening when the sun is setting... Quote
bass Czar Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 has anyone here fished a jitter bug yet?!? it's THE BEST top water lure for early morning or late evening when the sun is setting... I have a red and white jointed one I tried using a few times, not sure how to use it... Quote
CountBassula Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I have a red and white jointed one I tried using a few times, not sure how to use it... simple. you throw it. once it lands you wait few seconds, often times you will get a strike within the first 4 seconds after it lands. if no strike, start bringing it slowly in so that it makes the bubbling sound. don't stop. run it slow and steady. works great on a calm flat surface with no wind, early morning or late evening, around sun setting or coming up. i've caught more bass on that thing when I was bass fishing back in NY when in highschool than I did here in FL... yes, there was a time when i was a great bass fisher man, then i took a break for 15 years and am at it again since last year. FL bass is tough... or it might be the spell Gambler cast upon me! that cheating wretched!!! EDIT TO ADD: i only use the small one peace jitter bugs. even nailed a snakehead one one few weeks ago Quote
JellyMan Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I have one. It acts like a buzz bait but you can work it much slower, which I think is much more beneficial... AND you can stop it! *Blublublublublublbub* 1 Quote

I had a blast, we had some good laughs and we caught a mess of fish. No big one's decided to play, but 2 did decide to play peek-a-boo, in your boat. LOL. Quote

CountBassula Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Well, the curse of the Gambler was definately upon me today! The first 2 fish I caught were gut hooked, and even though I managed to remove the hook and not hold them out of the water for very long, they both DIED!!! First one I unhooked in under a minute, and when I put him back in he was dead, the second one was out for a minute, then back in the water for a swim, then back out again, and he also... kaput! The one in the pic below is the largest one I got today, and he's one of the two that dies! d**n you Gambler!!!! Otherwise it was a great day. Fstr385 and I met up at 6:55am, dropped his itsy-bitsy-tiny boat and worked my entire honey hole canal in 5 hours that followed. We must have boated 30+ fish (this is where I hear NOT ONE word from Lou nor Gambler!) and had a great time! P.S. Lou I believe I should be in the 90+ inch territory Quote

That fish culled one of your 16's . i know you'll post the top 10 tomorrow, but could you also PM me or post my 5 fish, since you started keeping score, I forgot what I caught Also, not sure how you're doing it, but do you want an Excel spredsheet (I can share it with you as google doc) that will automatically calculate top 5 based on the numbers you plug in (I promise to not hack the programming in my favor )? fishingator Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Sounds like everyone had a good weekend but is . I have frog-itis and now I can't put it down despite not catching. Lovely. We went to a new sweet place. We didn't even cover the whole area. I did catch a small guy on a lizard and missed a few on lizard and frog. Hoping for a miracle next weekend! Quote

Some areas are too good to pass up, but unfortunately, no matter how pretty it looks, frogs are not always on the menu. Today for example, bait fish was on the menu. The place we were at was full of bait. So we had to adjust and target the schooling bass. Quote

But in the afternoon they were locked in on anything resembling bait fish Quote
