Super User LgMouthGambler Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 T-minus 9 days and BPS opens within walking distance from our house... That's not a good thing. The fact that I have to drive 20 minutes to get to mine is what saves me, otherwise my wife would really not be happy with me. As it is she says I go there too much. Like that's possible, lol. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted October 15, 2013 Author Super User Posted October 15, 2013 In true FSTR fashion he has jumped into second place with 101"!!!! Unbelievable FSTR. Your smallest fish to cull now is a 18.5" WTG!! Which part of town did you catch those beauties? Canal or Lake? 1 Quote

dsidle61 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Think i picked a bad week to take off. Im way on the outside looking in now. I actually snuck out friday evening for about 1.5 hours and missed one on a senko and a pop-r. Im on the same boat as AK, fish up here have just gone to sleep. We took a pretty good drop in weather about a week or two ago and i thought it would wake the fish up especially on the topwaters but it seems the exact opposite. Im gonna have to get back to my lizards, trick worms, senkos, and flukes more to see if it gets me a change. Still wont be out again until wednesday at the earliest so barring a miracle i think this month im just shooting to get in the top 10! great to see everyone pulling in some very nice fish. Super User BassinLou Posted October 15, 2013 Author Super User Posted October 15, 2013 Funny, I looking over the numbers both Rovingmutt and FSTR smallest fish are 18.5. This competition is far from over. I think at the current pace, a competition record might be set. Quote

Which part of town did you catch those beauties? Canal or Lake? Thanks Lou. A little private lake I go to sometimes about 10 minutes from my house. Usually try to go in the am, but never get time before work with the now dark mornings. I had to wait on call on site today and had all my gear from the major 15min session I had in the morning so figured what the heck. Huge schooling bass all over in the shallows still at 5pm. I had a senko on and noticed the smaller bass right at the shore chased it on retrieve so I went to a weighted worm which was the only thing I had and hopped it along the bottom and got quite a few bites and even a few snakeheads up to about 6lbs. The bite dropped of though once the sun went behind the trees. Hooefully its a repeat tomorrow. Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 So I sat here with all my stuff rerigging. Thinking about what I threw yesterday, and rigs I didnt have setup that I would have thrown. Apparently the game has stepped up this month. Its gonna take figuring out what the BIG girls want to nibble on. Its easy enough for me to make a trip to the BIG O and drop this comp, but I refuse to do that. There is a way to get some quality fish out of the systems we have down here to run with the N FL people and their better water systems. 100+ is going to be the way, Im thinking its gonna take 5 fish with an average of 23-25" to take this thing for this month. With the odd pattern that seemed to get the fish to bite yesterday leaves me to believe that this year is a little different than last year. I refuse to put down the power and throw the Senko, for that I would rather just throw live shiners, lol. Lou, to give you a heads up, the boat will be loaded with 8 rigs, and a bag full of crap. Sunday I need to pull at least 3 quality fish in the boat over 20", and am going to have to figure it out right away. Quote
Super User MCS Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 See LMG aren't u glad Lou recruited you this is FUN! And as far as I recall the highest was the first month, June or July fstr had like 111( just to be clear I was #2 with 104") maybe AK has come close but I know we haven't been over 115, if you get 5 x 25 that would be CRAZY!!! And I think 5 x 25" would make Martin's head explode!!!! That wouldn't be good because we would have no videos so I caution you LMG....... On a total side note do you fish from shore much LMG? Any u southern fl guys pond hope up here before? 1 Quote
fstr385 Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I think its easier to pick up fish in the local canals and lakes than the glades right now and esp chobee. My friends are tellin me the tourney guys are baggin low 20's to win. I havent gone up there in like 2 months+ since the levels have been up so high. I guess its down in the 15 range now but still a mess and early am bite for the most part. Quote

Any u southern fl guys pond hope up here before? Â Yes this is a bunch of fun. I will tell you the best part about this is that it makes me take out $3200 worth of rods and reels every Sunday that I might not if it werent for this. I feel like I am fishing a tourney every weekend. It will definately hold me over until the King Of The Glades tour starts up again. I dont know if Martin could handle 125" worth of LMG Bass. He was pretty freaked out with the monster from yesterday. I fish from shore occasionally, but since I have a boat now, I usually hold until a Sunday on the water in it. If I have a free day during the week, I may sneek off to a walk on the edge of the water somewhere. We dont really have ponds down here, mostly canal systems. 1 Quote
fishingator Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Here is my 14.5" from this weekend. I was so happy not to be taking a picture in the tall grass but this pic isn't any better lol. If I can ever find some big fish I will probably end up taking 100 pics! Quote

I just wanted to let you know that when I go on a boat, I carry with me 10 rods, and 50lb gear bag,..... LOL just messing with you. I will just carry 4 outfits and a bag of tricks.  1 Quote

Don't worry, if you want to grab a rig to throw don't be shy, youre more than welcome to throw some Shimanos. I just warn you that I will not be held responsible for what happens after you have felt the magic of an E series reel in your hands. Quote
