fishingator Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Ugh I think why there is no info in this area is because it sucks! One place should have been amazing...no signs of life. One place looked dead and was dead. We finally found a decent spot but ran out if time. Frustrating morning. Quote

One place should have been amazing...no signs of life. One place looked dead and was dead. We finally found a decent spot but ran out if time. Frustrating morning. I feel your pain went out this morning with Bass Czar and we got skunked and we were at spots where we usually catch nice fish. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted October 12, 2013 Super User Posted October 12, 2013 Me and czar went out for 4 hours got skunked. I threw the WHOLE tackle box lol. Started with frog (black) then I used senko (watermelon red and black with blue flake), magnum worm (June bug), rage craw (watermelon red), live target frog, swim baits (2 different ones), and a swim jig! They wanted nothing that I threw lol Quote
fishingator Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Holy cow! I hate days like that lol. At least I could blame this on crappy areas. We noticed we haven't seen a single "no fishing" sign around. There are "no swimming" though. We've decided Daytona kills their fish lol. Wedding chores are done. The SO is almost done laying a pergo floor for my parents and it is almost time for football . Quote
Rovingmutt Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 I was able to get out to my favorite fish spot today, Tenoroc fish area, butterfly lake. I was on the water at 6:00 and started throwing a torpedo prop and a shatterbait and got nothing, changed to a white fluke throwing to the shallows with a slow retrieve, got nothing till about 8:00 , when i got my 1st fish, 20 1/2 in the boat, no skunk today, whoopee. Keep working the fluke real slow and got 4 more, 8, 8, 13, 18 1/2, then the bite shut down about 9:00 so i started looking around and went to another cove were i saw some schooling action, i hooked onto what felt like my best bass ever, fought for what seemed like about 5 minutes, everytime it would see the boat it would make another run, but finally i felt the pop, lost it. crap, crap oh well thats fishing, grrr anyways keep chasing some schools and did get 4 more, 1 i got on a spook (Love topwater) 21, 18, 13, 16 so a good day fishing, so hopefully i can catch up a little, next sat i can't go fishing, have to go to a training class for my work. so, lou i think i can cull the bottom 3 with the 21, 20 1/2, 18 1/2 i think my top 5 are 22, 20, 20 1/2, 21, 18 1/2 = 102 ?!! rovingmutt 1 Quote
Super User MCS Posted October 12, 2013 Super User Posted October 12, 2013 Nice work Mutt! Some good looking fish. 1 Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted October 12, 2013 Author Super User Posted October 12, 2013 Nice Mutt!! that puts you at 102" WTG!! Leading by 7" from the next closes person. 2 Quote
Rovingmutt Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 It was a good day, i think the fish are getting a little more active with the temp drop, aug and sept were real slow for me. anyways, i am sure with this group i won't be leading for long, too many good fisherman Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted October 13, 2013 Author Super User Posted October 13, 2013 Mutt, let me put this in perspective. I agree there are many good anglers on here. The highest score someone has gotten, since the *** of this contest has been 103" you are at 102" 12 days into the comp. You still have an 18.5" to cull!! and; you live in Central FL. Your score has raised the bar high and fast my friend. So you have presented all of us with a great challenge. Â BTW, I am really digging the measuring board you constructed. Quote
JellyMan Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 20.2". No proof. I forgot about this thread lol. Finally had a decent day to break my fishless streak. 9 fish today. I think the fall bite is ON! Â 1 Quote

I haven't had something like that in a lonnnng time. You had them locked in. Glad to see somebody got into some nice fish today after me and czar got skunked all day. Judging by your pics you south FL guys are going to be showing us some nice fish. 1 Quote

I think the fall bite is ON! Nice fish man. I'd count that 20" towards your total you can tell and I'd give you the benefit of the doubt. What did you catch them on today? I tried everything under the sun and got skunked here in Jacksonville 1 Quote
fishingator Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Wow nice fish Mutt!!! We finally got some inside info to this area. We fished a bit tonight, threw everything but only caught two smalls on worms. I tried and tried with my frog but I just don't think they were there. We weren't going to fish the morning after our disappointing day today but with new info we feel "obligated" to go 1 Quote

I'm also very surprised by the good luck i'm having, i just started back fishing in march, and in july, aug and sept most of my fishing was really bad, 1 maybe 2 fish at most, and alot of skunked days, i only have 1 more day this month when i can get out and improve the score, i think with cooler temps everyone will see more fish this month than last, thanks for letting me join the group here's another pic from today, 1 inch at time  the measuring board was great, Quote

I tried everything under the sun and got skunked here in Jacksonville 3/8 bullet weight, 4/0 EWG with a watemelon red Rage Space Monkey. Pitching into the cyprus stumps. All day long man. Quote

Nice fish, good info. Glad to see u got into some and stuck with us even when u weren't. I will see my boss from work(most of the guys) is a gator but he is an old cracker, if he knows a secret spot or tips. Also where were u at that lake looked nice? Quote

I must correct myself, the numbers posted above are for our FL club numbers. There is another competition up north. TX again AK. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted October 13, 2013 Author Super User Posted October 13, 2013 I am off to a work thing, I will post the weekly numbers tonight folks, have a great day everyone. Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted October 13, 2013 Super User Posted October 13, 2013 Day two skunked again in the AM I don't know what's up with these Jax fish past week or so. You know it's bad when I am out fishing right now with czar and Dave and I'm on my phone posting lmao Atleast I got football at 1pm Quote
fishingator Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 We dragged ourselves out of bed this morning against better rational judgement lol. We went to the insider spot. It's an amazing spot but it was quite cool this morning and we only got little guys. I would go back there again for sure and it's nice to know there are bass in Daytona. The tip came from a landscaper who said he saw a bass eat a baby duckling before lol. We stumbled upon another pond. We weren't catching but persistence paid off. We caught a few small guys and I got one 14.5" which with my numbers I could still probably use lol. My SO had a nice one on but he fought him all the way to shore but he was never actually hooked and he lost him at the bank. Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted October 13, 2013 Super User Posted October 13, 2013 So Martin is killing me out here with his d**n Dennis, lol. He caught one while swimming it along the top back to the boat. New technique by Martin, SwimSenkTopwater. Quote
JellyMan Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 You guys are lucky I have a ton of homework to do for monday and cant get out again today... Â lol Quote
