Super User flyfisher Posted October 14, 2013 Super User Posted October 14, 2013 Alex smith doesn't have to be a beast for the chiefs to succeed. they just need that defense to continue to play well and smith to not lose them games. I seem to remember a few no name QBs who did the same thing from the bucs, ravens (first time) and even eli with the giants on his first run. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted October 14, 2013 Super User Posted October 14, 2013 I just had to give you a hard time about them raiders LOL....So who played a worse game versus the worst teams in the league, the Chiefs or the Broncos. Broncos let the Jags hang really close, and if Blackmon wasn't helping the gamblers out it woulda been within 1 score BWAHAHAHA wasn't it a 27.5 point spread? I almost bet on the Jags to cover but i promised myself to not bet on football after my last good run....well other than fantasy football and weekly pick 'em leagues. Quote

That was after the Bucs released him. I believe his words were he wants to be the QB that wins a super bowl and have no one remember his name. Or something along those lines.Defense wins championships. Least that was the case with my defense my junior year. Took us 4 overtimes to do it. (Thats how bad our offense was) by God we did it though. Quote

I got faith in TP2, but tha t was horrible. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted October 14, 2013 Super User Posted October 14, 2013 I believe Rob Johnson was the QB for the bucs when they won.....offense wins in the regular season but to win in the playoffs you need to have a defense that can force turnovers. Look at the saints when they won. They have always had the offense but the one year they have defense they pretty much waltz their way to the Super Bowl. 1 Quote

Because after that year I followed Sapp to the Raiders. I've followed Tampa, Atlanta, and the Raiders my whole life. I didn't become a huge (new school) Raiders fan until after they lost to Tampa. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 15, 2013 Global Moderator Posted October 15, 2013 Yet they almost lost to my lowly Raiders. I mean we are such the great team this year. If we had a decent O line, Pryor would have destroyed them. Shame they won't make it past Denver. Probably get beaten by SD too. It's the Chiefs and Raiders, one of the oldest, best rivalries in the NFL. When they're playing you can pretty much forget about win loss records and who should win, it's always going to be a close, hard fought game. If the Chiefs had a better O line then Smith could just give the ball to Charles and let him run wild, but we don't so he didn't. Smith certainly isn't flashy, but he keeps doing just enough to help them win games. I agree that the Chiefs aren't as good as their record shows and will probably get spanked both times by the Broncos, but their defense is going to get in Rivers head and make him make mistakes like he always does when he's getting pressured. Super User flyfisher Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 Peyton manning is playing very well but their defense hasn't really stopped anyone. I really hope they are both undefeated when they play because i would love to see the chiefs win.....i also read they set the decibel record for a game this past week too. Definitely on my bucket list of stadiums to go visit before i die. Quote

I almost bet on the Jags to cover but i promised myself to not bet on football after my last good run....well other than fantasy football and weekly pick 'em leagues. yeah it was like the largest spread ever for NFL or something. And they were down by 2 in the third. Almost within 1 score in the 4th....tell me the broncos came out half cocked for this one.... Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted October 15, 2013 Super User Posted October 15, 2013 Yeah but peyton has been there before with the whole undefeated for 12-13 games and ended up losing so i figured he would put the pedal to the metal the entire game. I am still mad that the Eagles didn't make a play on him when he was on the free market....imagine him with McCoy, Jackson, Celek and if Maclin was healthy......oh well guess i will just be stuck with watching the Eagles rack up a ton of yards but not as many points. Definitely on my bucket list of stadiums to go visit before i die. I went to a night game in Arrowhead in 2003 in which the Chiefs beat the Raiders with a last second field goal. As far as going to just about the most exciting sporting event imaginable goes, that one's crossed of my bucket list. I hope you get to go someday. I highly recommend it. I went again a couple years ago and the Chiefs beat either the Panthers or Jags, can't remember. That game was at noon, and it wasn't nearly as exciting as a Chiefs vs Raiders game. But Arrowhead is always quite an experience. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 21, 2013 Global Moderator Posted October 21, 2013 7-0 It wasn't pretty but I'll take it. I worry about the Browns next week, we always seem to have trouble with teams we should beat. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted October 21, 2013 Super User Posted October 21, 2013 The chiefs defense will keep them alive in pretty much every game. The only problem is the walrus is notroious for blwoing close games, well at least he was in philly but i still hope they do well. Quote

So far most of their games have been really close, but they keep winning. They won't keep up with the high scoring offenses unless they force turnovers though. Then again, if they can take the ball away and put together the long, slow paced drives they've had this season to keep those high scoring offenses off the field and not let them get any rhythm, they might surprise me. Super User flyfisher Posted October 27, 2013 Super User Posted October 27, 2013 Chiefs are the real deal....winning close games and that defense even on an off day like today is still pretty good. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted October 27, 2013 Super User Posted October 27, 2013 Welll.... two things: 1. The Chiefs are a much improved team from last year. They made a lot of roster changes in the off season for the better. Nobody should be surprised they're doing better. Are they a playoff team? Not yet, but they're on their way to becoming one. 2. They've had a very soft schedule so far. The rest of the season is going to be tough for them. I'd be impressed if they end up 8-8 this year. So now you can be impressed 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 28, 2013 Global Moderator Posted October 28, 2013 So now you can be impressed I wish they would have kept rolling in the second half like they were in the first half, looked like two different teams. Doesn't matter, they could win the Super Bowl and people would still be talking about their weak schedule and lack of impressive wins. The second half of the season is going to be tough though, they may still finish 8 and 8 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 3, 2013 Author Super User Posted November 3, 2013 Kansas City has some great games coming up. Chiefs vs Broncos 11/17. This should be fun to watch! 1 Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted November 3, 2013 Super User Posted November 3, 2013 9-0 WOW, I'm stil speechless they made it to 2-0 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted November 3, 2013 Super User Posted November 3, 2013 They have let up the least amount of points in the league and the only team that is close has played one less game. They are going to be in it till the end of the year....... Quote
Super User tomustang Posted November 3, 2013 Super User Posted November 3, 2013 See, it wasn't Reid, the eagles players were so cocky and didn't play as a team. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted November 4, 2013 Super User Posted November 4, 2013 No, in Philly it was Reid. He was in control of the players and coaches and once JJ died the defense went downhill fast. Offense was his strength not defense and it showed. It was just time for him to move on.... 1 Quote
