Need Second Opinion On Purchase!

Alright so I have a fairly large purchase about to happen, and I just want some second opinions before I submit the order:

 

7' MH Falcon Bucco paired with Lews Tournament Pro (7.1:1) - Used for jigs, heavy texas rigs.

 

7'1" MH *** *** Black paired with Quantum Smoke (7.1:1) = Used for flipping and pitching.

 

Either 7' MH Falcon Bucco or 7' MH St. Croix Premier paired with Daiwa Tatula (6.3:1) - Used for spinnerbaits.

 

Plus assorted tackle and such.

 

I almost feel like I am being way too varied in my brand choices. IS choosing so many different brands a bad idea? I am just trying to get a feel for whatever brands I like so later on I can start to build an arsenal around rods and reels I like.

 

 

Also, what line should I use for each combo? I can't decide between PP and 832 (do either bleed on the reel?) or any of the other ones. 

 

Sorry for posting so many topics lately on this, I just can't decide and don't want to make a mistake.

You are going to be given a myriad of suggestions for what you are asking. You seem pretty spread out with your choices. How did you come to the conclusions on the equipment you are asking for 2nd opinions on? Have you handled all of the gear you are purchasing. Have you paired the reels with rods you are buying? It's exciting to by new equipment, I am excited for you, and I would highly recommend you try the suggestions I gave you because they have saved me from making purchases on some thing that I thought was going to work and once I saw and felt it I realized it was not going to be a good fit. Best of luck, and congrats on your purchase eventhough it may not be those after people give you feedback.

 Thank you for the advice, I have held all equipment except the ***, but from the reviews, I think I will take the chance on it. The biggest reason for the assortment of gear is price. I am finding some great deals on the gear I am about to purchase. Would I rather have all Avids on those reels? Sure. But the prices I am seeing for those rods is too good to pass up. I am pretty much asking for someone to tell me "just buy it and stop worrying". haha but thanks again for the help!

Floridabassdude, I hear ya. If you have tried out the majority of the equipment and you like it then go for it. Some times we are operating on a budget and a good sale comes along that fits your parameters and you can't pass it up. Good luck with your purchase and enjoy.

Just kidding. But seriously, I don't think there's anything wrong with a variety. I think you've picked out quality gear, so I don't have any input on that end. I see two things happening. 1. You use your new set ups and enjoy them or 2. You use your experience with your new set ups to hone in on the brands you like or 3. Both. I started out by buying a myriad of different brands based on whatever deals I could get. I never really had any bad experiences per say, but I did take what I liked and didn't like to narrow down my choices. I'm still not necessarily tied down to only buying one brand of reels or one brand of rods, etc. But I do tend to gravitate towards a few brand based on their performance for the price.

 

As far as line goes, I like braid for all my set ups now, especially for those applications. 832 is a great choice IMO.

Yeah, I'm trying to find a fault and I can't, really. You've picked a good assortment of well-reviewed reels and solid $100-ish rods. I can't personally speak for the sensitivity of the Bucoo line, but it's probably fine.

 

Power Pro hasn't bled on my reels, but my fingers are nice and green after a spooling. PP and 832 are both good lines, which PP being better cost-wise. Perhaps a straight fluoro would be an option for the jig and worm rod.

This is what I wanted to hear, thank you!!!! I'm basically doing what you did. Hopefully I can find a couple brands that I really enjoy using, then start focusing on them! Really appreciate the reply!

Thanks for the help Cgrinder, glad to know I won't be disappointed in my choices. I know for the jig rod I am going with flouro, heard Abrazx is good? With the flip n pitch I think I am going with PP Super Slick 8 in Timber Brown (or yellow?), with Red Label leader (25 lb). Spinnerbait I have no idea, Yo-Zuri hybrid maybe?

Abrazx is a good choice. Tatsu is better, of course, but costs more. You could probably tie ppss8 brown directly to the lure. I use mono for spinnerbaits because Pike.

I have 3 of the products your buying- the lews tourney pro, the *** and the smoke. You will love them all. Don't lose patients with the smoke. It's tough to dial in but will cast a ton. I decided to keep mine after having it up here in the flea market

instaid of getting 2 of the same rods *** and falcon bucco 7' MH, i would get a 7'3 MH 13 ***, it is a lot lighter, more sensitive, and overall a better rod. paired with the lews touranment pro, its super light combo. And very versitle, i can flip 1/4oz jigs up to dragging 1oz football heads in 30 feet of water. its has a excellent tip but is strong as heck once you set the hook. but eather way you can go wrong. but personally id go with 1 *** over 1 *** and 1 falcon

Do you do a lot of pitching with a 7' rod now? I much prefer a 7'6" and I also dont really care for a split grip on a pitching rod since I like a little bit more weight on the handle.
