Can I be effective in MOST of my spinnerbait presentations with just one type of spinnerbait blade combination (tandem)?

I used to throw spinnerbaits a lot when I started bass fishing....but I started to learn other lures/techniques.

The ONLY time I ever throw a spinnerbait now is when the conditions are 100% prime and I know I will get bit.

I have spinnerbaits I don't use now and its taking up space. I don't want to have to buy 6-8 different spinnerbaits when 3-4 will do.

Just trying to save money, time and organization.

Thanks.

Personally I only fish with single #5 cupped Colorado blade spinners and most of the time will fish natural color. My modus operandi is to fish a normal cast and retrieve method. I have never had any luck with tandem spinners but I think there are many on here who swear by a different spinner for different retrieves. In all, I only keep about 6 or 7 different spinners and usually find that I still need the one I don't have. 8-)

Different strokes for different folks, but I think most that throw tandems will opt for nickel double willow hammered or smooth.

In my opinion tandem colorado/willow combos in a few different weights and or blade sizes are the best all around bait if your not into all the specifics and just want to keep a few baits on hand. If you always fishing clear water then double willow will usually be the ticket. Also if your not keeping too many baits on hand then at least make sure you keep a few spare skirts. Then you can at least change the colors whenever you want to suit conditions.

The spinnerbait I fish the most is a single Tennesse blade, in second place a single Willowleaf, and even though I have a bunch of spinnerbaits with different blade configurations I seldomly use them. So in practical terms, yes you can fish most of the time with only one spinnerbait blade configuration.

I read one of the pros a couple of years ago (can't remember, maybe KVD) saying that basic tandem will serve you well for the vast majority of your spinnerbait fishing.

It's dizzying to think of the number of combinations when you consider willow, Colorado, Indiana, and others, silver, gold, painted, hammered or smooth finish, blade size, etc. It ain't worth it to this angler.

Now, if I were selling spinnerbaits, I just might tell you that you need to carry about 150 or so, so you'll be ready with the exact bait you need for any condition you might encounter. As to who knows what the exact bait is for all the conditions, well, that's another story.  ;D

The tandem is the best all around one, but when I need a slow, shallow retrieve, I like a double Colorado.

Go with tandems or Colorados when you need more vibration or a slower retrieve, or double willow leaves in clear water when you need more flash.

If I had to choose one, it would be the tandem, it may not be the ideal bait for every situation, but it's more than adequate for most.

Personally, I use a single blade spinnerbait all the time. I take off the split ring from the blade & ball bearing swivel and add a snap to the swivel so I can switch blades quickly (willows to colorados, blade finish and sizes).

My spinnerbait skirt is usually a watermelon over white or pearl.

i mostly use a tandem willow leaf and colorado blade on most of my spinnerbaits. I usually use a white chartruese skirt or black and red for night.

Double willow all day!

Double willow in clear water, Double Col. in low visibility, Tandem for general purpose, and Single Col. "soup spoon" at night.  3/8 or 1/2 oz.

I use a 7/16 or 1/2 oz. spinnerbait with a single Hildebrandt #4 1/2 Colorado blade probably 75% of the time. Other times, I'll use either a colorado/willow or colorado/colorado combination depending on water clarity.

If I were traveling light, I could get by with three.

1.Tandem, Chartreuse/white skirt,  chrome Colorado/ gold willowleaf.

2. Tandem, blue/black skirt, two chrome Colorado blades.

3. BIG (1/2 oz. minimum) single, black skirt, black  "soup spoon" blade.

These would adequately cover all of my spinnerbait needs.
