How often do you check and sharpen your treble hooks on your lures?

I check and sharpen them over the winter while the snow is piling up. I also check them mid season too.

Not that I do it often but it's a good idea to sharpen or replace hooks.  Much of the time bass do not hit hard enough to set the hook themselves.

Every time I tie a bait on, I check its hooks. Every four or five casts, I check hooks. I sharpen hooks as needed, there's no specific time line. I may replace hooks on the water or in prep, or any time in between.

That's probably the best idea for keeping hooks sharpened.  Finding a span of free time to sharpen hooks on all our lures can be difficult.  That's a bunch of hooks.  I need to get in the habit of sharpening, or changing when I notice a problem in the boat.

I have noticed that alot of hooks arent as sharp as the one I had 10yrs ago. That being said I carry a nail file and if I get a couple hits without hookups, I check my hooks and sharpen if necessary.

Everytime I tie a bait I check the sharpness of the hooks and sharpen if needed. Everytime I fail to check out of lazyness guess what happens ? oh yeah, loosing a 1-3 pounder doesn´t hurt that much, but watching a 10+ spit your bait when it´s 6 ft from the boat ..........
