There is a water pressure line that goes from a port on the block to the gauge. Since I don't do Merc's can't tell you exactly where it's at but it will be a small hose about 1/4" in diameter that will go out the front of the motor and up to the console, should be the only hose leaving the motor like that. It's possible the hose could be pinched.

The easiest way to check the gauge is to pull the hose off the back of the gauge, put a piece a couple of feet long on the gauge, apply about 25 pounds of compressed air to it and see if the gauge reads the pressure. If not, the gauge is bad. Don't forget to put the hose back on or you will have a wet surprise the next time you run the boat.

If it just stopped working, something probably broke in the gauge, if it hasn't worked all summer, it probably froze during the winter and burst the pressure chamber inside.

Ask the dealer if the warrantee covers all mechanical problems. The water pressure gauge is a mechanical gauge, not electronic. The only thing electronic about it is the light bulb in it.

The gauge is so simple to check and replace, there is no way I would pay a shop their outrages price and be without the boat that long.

I also know to never buy a Nitro boat if they won't warrantee something that new. That is just plain total lack of customer service.

I would email them a link to this web site and let them see how stupid that makes them look.

Nitro won't warranty a new boat that hasn't even been broken in yet? WOW!

in the "old days" if it was peeing fine and the overheat buzzer didnt go off, your water pressure was fine, aka no need for water pressure gauge.

on the otherhand, it is concerning Nitro will not replace it, I thought Nitro gave a 1 year full "bumper to bumper" warrantee on all components.......I would take it to your dealer and work it out.

He's the second owner. Maybe they don't transfer warranty. For a boat with less than 1hr on it his dealer or Nitro is screwing him.

ok, yeah for second owner the only thing that transfers is the hull warrantee as far as I know.... I find it hard pressed that a dealer wouldnt give someone a $40 or so gauge to make make them happy.

I dont expect much from a parent company, but I do expect more from a dealer, as usually the dealer can be more flexible (sometimes)

Deal with this kind of stuff all the time down south in out dirty water. Something is probably stuck in the line. Keith has the right suggestions....

I can't help you anymore than that bit of information.

I will say, if it's "peeing" fine you're doing okay. The only reason I really need a pressure gauge is when I'm messing with the jackplate and getting it pretty shallow.

Did you buy the boat from a dealer or a private party?

This is an old thread but after my recent experience I though I would provide what I learned -

I purchased a used 2013 tracker with a 115 Mercury a couple of years ago and the water pressure gauge never worked.  Last week I decided to fix it so I disconnected the 5/32 od - 3/32 id hose from the gauge and motor which I discovered was blocked and I could not clear it with a stiff wire - the gauge was good.  My best fix was to purchase a 32' similar hose and a package of 12 "Pneumatic Quick Adapter Tubing Fittings" for around $20.  I cut the tube from the motor to the back of the boat and verified it was clear.  I did the same to the tube at another access point on the side and verified it was clear to the gauge and spliced in the new tube using about 10 ' of new hose.  I cut the old hose in pieces to determine the cause of the blockage.  It was blocked in two places which happened to be low places in the way the old tube was routed.  My gauge is working now.
