I got some coffee lures from DeakNH03 and was wondering how they were going to preform. I tried them out with a Trokar hook and a 1/4 ounce tungsten weight. The line I was using was braid with a 6' fluro. leader. I cast the anaconda out using my 7' Browning Rod. I was fishing a point over some isolated cover. It was hard to feel the lure because this rod only is sensitive to vibrations

If you ever watch me fish you know that I am not a line watcher, I feel everything in my rod. As I worked the bait I begin to feel as though the lure wasn't one the hook right. I set the hook and realized I had a fish. I reeled in using the BPS Extreme reel in 7.1. As the fish got closer to the bank I realized this was no small fish, but a pretty good size.

Pulled it out of the water and saw that this was solid five pound fish. I was excited, so i re casted and ended up with a couple of more decent size fish. All in All a great day.How else can you fish these lures?

The one over there in the bottom is 7lbs when we weighed him

 Thanks DeakNH03,

Whether I agree with you or not, you didn't weigh the fish....

Does it look 7lbs... Not to me, but who knows some photos can be deceiving in both ways (larger/smaller)...

You are correct, the scale doesn't lie, but I doubt you weighed the fish therefore don't know the weight.

Nice fish, but maybe leave a reference in the photo like the "7lber" next to your rod.

Just saying.

It probably was 7lbs before it laid in the grass for a while and shrank, Just wondering where the solid five went?

I did, and that's why I'm doubting the size. It's a beautiful fish, that goes without saying. Just having trouble with you saying it being 7lbs.

4 to 5lbs okay, but not 7.

Look, I dont know why guys get upset when someone says a pic doesn't look as big as someone claims. That's not 7lbs. It's 5 on an AMAZING day. You are correct, I wasnt there. I have weighed my fair share of big fish though and, like someone said, unless Jay is a very, very large young man then the fish doesn't look as big as claimed.

No one called anyone's mom a name, no one is bleeding. I simply stated that the young man's scales may be a weeeeeeeeeee bit off.

As suggested, I checked my glasses and it still doesn't look 7. Have a good one.

Jay, I will say that I hope you enjoy your fish dinner. I'm sure it will be delicious. I'm glad you are doing your part to improve the farm pond.

You demonstrated one of the bass fishing rules: If the bait feels different set the hook!

There are no charges to set the hook.

You may look silly from time to time but if the bait feels different you set the hook.

Good job. Keep it up.

Not upset at all, I agree with you... There is no way that that fish is 7pounds, probably closer to 4, but I don't think I would have made the initial post you made... That's what I disagreed with, it just rubbed me the wrong way at the moment LOL, were all good

Haters gonna hate! Speedbead has been drinking some hateraide.

Seriously, next week when you post "I cannot catch anything in this pond I use to what should I use/etc.?" I will refer you back to this post. We have all been there but effective pond management is not what I witnessed in that pic.

Who cares it's a fish check your egos at the door gentlemen.

Only thing I don't like is people keeping bass.

And if you're gonna keep them don't just let them die in the sun. Cooler of ice will let them suffer less regardless of if you eat them.
