Nice_Bass Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I pretty much have all my confidence in powerbait, I do like the pro shake e2, I always have one rigged up, with a powerbait shake worm... Anyhow, tried the MS tube, does help bringing frogs over slop as lube, and while I let the fish hold on for a second prior to setting the hook, i believe that it works and does not get spit as quick. I think availability is low unless you are looking for it. Not for the impulse buyer. (at least in my neck of the woods) Also, and I may get slayed for this, but anything with Ronald Martin on it turns me away, not sure why, just a feeling i get.
bmadd Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 The only products I have are the Cavitron buzzbaits. I have a 1/4 oz and a 3/8 oz model. They have barely seen any action because of the lack of distance I can achieve casting them. I like the distance I can get with buzz frogs and/or Sammy type baits compared to the cavitrons so I often fish those instead. I think offering a 1/2 oz model Cavitron would change that. The head design of your jigs has kept me away from them. I like a sleek jig head as I'm often hitting my targets pretty fast and not allowing my jig to soak very long, therefor no need for the stand up feature.
Vinny Chase Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I use megastrike scent with confidence...dont really know if it catches more fish but it does make them hold on longer. I also love the shake2 jig heads!
Super User J Francho Posted August 23, 2010 Super User Posted August 23, 2010 LMAO, who is Ronald Martin?
scbassin Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I do not use any of your products. The products that I am using now I am happy with & see no reason to change.
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted August 23, 2010 Super User Posted August 23, 2010 I don't fish soft plastics alot, but when I do, I use Megastrike. I feel it masks my scent, and the fish holds the bait a little longer. Falcon
repper Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I still have some of your original Megastrike that I use some, but the newer version is just too stinky for me. You said be honest, and honestly I use mostly Hotsauce, but I still do use some of the older version of your Megastrike. I do not care for the jig heads, too bulky, but I still use them in rocky areas, wish they had a rattle option though. I've caught plenty of fish on them though. I like the buzzbaits, but a 1/2 oz version would be nice. My son, who I almost always go fishing with, gags when I give him a good whiff of your newer version of the Megastrike!
Super User bilgerat Posted August 23, 2010 Super User Posted August 23, 2010 I grabbed a tube of Megastrike at Dick's, as I had a gift card to burn. I never used any scents at all but figured yours may as well be the first based on the mostly positive reviews. To be honest, I can't really say it works or doesn't at this point in time. The bite overall has been tough for me this year, between the heat and my work schedule. The lubrication factor alone is a nice plus, I just have not got into enough of a consistent plastic bite to see if it produces more or not. We still have a couple of months to go here until freeze up, so I'll give it a fair shot until the end.
Super User 5bass Posted August 23, 2010 Super User Posted August 23, 2010 LMAO, who is Ronald Martin? A dude I used to work with. We called him Ronnie. ;D
Revo_Carrot Stix Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I use Cavitron buzzbaits - only based on the reviews I've read in BR forum. A couple weeks ago, I had a big order with TW and threw in 2 Cavitrons and had decent success. Usually, if I'm going to try something different or new, it's off the shelf at my local BPS or Cabela's and it's usually an impulse purchase. Megastrike products are hard if not impossible to find on store shelves. I do like my Cavitron (Black/Black) enough to start buying different colors. But again, it won't be until I reach my $50 no shipping level at TW. I've been to your site numerous times, but for me - it's especially hard to feel, smell, and buy soft plastics without getting my hands on it first, know what I mean? Megastrike scent intrigues me...but I'm leary thanks to the barely-used jars and sprays from Smelly Jelly and Gulp. I do think it's very cool that you are soliciting feedback from BR members. That goes a long way in my book to possibly try some other products. Â
MattinOK Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I do like to see before I buy like most people. The lack of non-online dealers is my biggest gripe. I will be replacing most of my spinner baits with Strike Backs. If you ever come out with a Colorado bladed spinner bait, I will replace ALL of my spinner baits for Strike Backs.
Lucky Craft Man Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 What I use: Cavitron Buzzbaits - Have been using these buzzbaits for a while. Found these to be the best buzzbait at slow retrieval speeds. E^2 Jigs - Haven't fished these much, but do like the concept. What I don't use: MegaStrike Fish Attractant - Not quite sold on attractants and if I were, I don't like the squeeze tube application process. Seems like I would have a mess in the boat with that stuff. E^2 Shakyhead - Have had so much success with my Picasso Shaky Jighead that I don't feel a need to change. Strikeback Spinnerbait - Just saw it on the website. May entertain using one, but haven't yet. Soft Plastics - I haven't used any soft plastics yet from Megastrike. Would entertain it if they were more available.
hitchhiker Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Being that I'm more a crankbaiter, I have never used Megastrike. I haven't seen it stocked locally, and although I do order a lot of tackle online, it's usually stuff that I am looking to refill and replace, rather than try new stuff that I have never seen. I do have a lot of power baits, and smelly jelly left, and my hands stink enough when I use it/them. Like others, I'm not sure taht makes scent makes a real difference or not, but maybe when I have to replenish, my scent stock, I'll give it a try.Â
Gangley Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 MegaStrike Fish Attractant I don't like pastes, too messy. If it came in a bottle to dip, I would be more apt or prone to purchase it. Shake E2 jig. First off, I think its a great concept and have considered purchasing some on multiple occasions, but most of my jig fishing doesn't call for a stand up jig head. A lot of my fishing occurs in grass and matted weeds, and I am hesitant to purchase them because the head design doesn't look conducive to that type of jigging. If I fished more open locations, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase some as they appear to be constructed of quality materials, and that means A LOT to me. Plastics I have a full supply of ZOOM and Berkley products that I have confidence in. Because I have confidence in some specific products from those companies already, I am not likely to spend too much time and money trying other products, especially ones that I cant see or touch in the stores before hand. In conclusion, I look at your lineup and I see quality, which means a lot to me. However, the design applications of your jigs differ from what I would be using them for, and therefore I have not invested into them. I don't like the thought of messing with paste, and I am already confident and productive with different lines of soft plastics. I wish you the best with your lineups though.
Avalonjohn44 Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I love Cavitron Buzz baits, and honestly thought they had one in half ounce as well as one with a clacker. I'll have to recheck them tonight when I get home. I have about a dozen in different colors. I would like to try out the scent, but I am leary of the tube. I have the tendency to leave things in my car on a hot day, and don't really want to find a burst megastrike tube in the back seat. Can't imagine how long the stink would last...
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 23, 2010 Super User Posted August 23, 2010 The only one of your products I have used is the Attractant and after using about 1/2 of the tube in all weather conditons, I threw it away. I don't like the waxy carrier especially when the weather is cold and the hands-on application. Other products handle better and offer the qualities I require if I need to add a slippery coating on my baits. The scent itself is a non-issue and is just snake oil no matter whose product is touted. As far as the baits, I see them as no better or worse that other brands I use, so I have no reason to use them. However, I am glad that you offer those to give anglers a varied choice. My lure opinion is based on 50+ years of fishing mostly for bass. My scent opinion is based on my own tests under actual fishing conditions of several commercial "scents/attractants" and substances supposedly that repel bass (gasoline, DEET, sunscreen, cigarette tar, etc). WD-40 was included in my tests. Additional note: anyone that promotes a Helicoptor lure can't be taken seriously.
Super User fourbizz Posted August 23, 2010 Super User Posted August 23, 2010 I dont use any Megastrike products anymore.
Super User Dan: Posted August 23, 2010 Super User Posted August 23, 2010 I don't use megastrike scents because I am not convinced scents make a noticeable difference. Like others, I use oil based scents as a lubricant when fishing in grass. I don't use megastrike for that use because I have found alternatives that come in aerosol forms that are easier and cleaner to use. I don't use the jigs or jigheads because frankly the jigheads are MUCH too large for me. I need and choose jigs with the most compact head I can find.
Super User firefightn15 Posted August 24, 2010 Super User Posted August 24, 2010 Cavitrons are the bomb, but as stated, 1/2 oz. would be nice. As MattinOK said, if the Strike Backs were available with single #5 Colorado blades I would be all in!
rboat Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I use the original megastrike. I do not like the new stinky version. I beg you to go back to the original formula or sell both versions. It works. Fish hold longer and it is a great lube for weeds and hooking up soft swimbaits. I have a Cavitron, but have not used it enough to give an opinion.
Super User Hooligan Posted August 24, 2010 Super User Posted August 24, 2010 Love the Cavitron, not real fond of the shakey heads and jigs. I've popped the jigs apart in the rocks quite often. The durability of the skirts is something that I've also had a problem with. I think the biggest thing that deters me from coming back for the jigs is that it is near $2 more per jig that I've not had the greatest durability with. Don't get me wrong, they catch fish and typically they fish well. If I were putting money on the line in tournaments on a more regular basis, I might have a different opinion. Yet, when it comes down to it, I've not had any problems with the jigs I regularly fish, and don't feel bad about the $2 I spend on one, either.
ProCraft Joe Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I have tried the Megastrike scent, evolution stand up heads and the jigs. The scent I feel I do better with Bang or JJ's garlic, The jigheads worked well in open water but I fish thick nasty brush and they hung up too bad. The jigs were good but for the money I can make my own. I'm sure you guys make the perfect products for some people but they just aren't for me. If you were to make a cheaper version of the Owner Sledhead jig heads I'd be all over them.
Tom H. Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 I can honestly say that I have never used any of your products. Due to the simple fact that I had never heard of them until I started visiting this site.
MSAJAA Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 If I had one piece of advice it would be make your online store more user friendly. It is really difficult to use / view products.
